no references date February 2012 The Bona Venture is the campus newspaper of St. Bonaventure University . The paper has been printed continually since 1926. It has always been a weekly newspaper with the exception of a brief semi weekly experiment in the early 1980s. Referred to in and around campus as The BV, the paper is published Fridays throughout the school year. There are 26 issues a year, a preview on the men s and women s basketball teams and a senior supplement at the end of the year. All editors, writers and staff members of The Bona Venture are undergraduates who volunteer their time and skills. The short lived X Venture adventure race was a feature of ESPN s X Games . The first event, held in 1995, served as the second Eco Challenge event after Eco Challenge Maine . Each X Venture featured 15 teams. The three person co ed teams travelled between 300 and 500 miles. Unlike most U.S. based events, the X Venture race was held in stages, allowing any team that completed the stage in less than 24 hours to rest until the next stage began. The game allows players to build and manage ecosystems of Arctic animals by interacting with the environment using tools of nature , such as the sun, snow, wind, and sickness. There are five different environments in the game, from an oil rig off the coast of Svalbard , Norway , to a new pipeline disturbing the Caribou herds in the Alaskan level. While the game maintains impartiality on environmental issues, players are left to discover for themselves the impact of global warming and deforestation throughout the seasons in their sim ecosystems and the 22 animal species which comprise them. The visual art was inspired by traditional Inuit sculpture. The music is a reinterpretation of Vivaldi s Four Seasons Concerto using Inuit inspired instruments and instruments brought to the region by explorers. The ship had set sail from Thailand , stopped in Kenya and circled the Cape of Good Hope en route. In their attempts to flee the stranded ship and get to shore in the United States , ten people drowned. The survivors were taken into custody by the Immigration and Naturalization Service and were held in prisons throughout the U.S. while applying for political asylum . While roughly ten per cent were granted asylum, and minors were released, about half the remainder were deported some being accepted by South American countries .
