SecureDigital Container was a compressed, encrypted executable file type that was made and used by the e academy Inc. ELMS e academy License Management System ELMS for secure downloads of primarily academic software. After being downloaded, it was decrypted and the software would be extracted. The SDC file was created by e academy for distribution of academic software purchased or freely downloaded by its academic user base. It could not be opened without the Secure Delivery Client. The Secure delivery client would request permission from ELMS to download. If ELMS denied the request, the download would not proceed. There was also a limited number of downloads a customer could use. When download count hits zero, a customer would be unable to download more copies of the software. Thereby it can be mathematical induction inductively proven that the system is secure. As defined in the Bell LaPadula model , the secure state is built on the concept of a state machine with a set of allowable states in a system. The transition from one state to another state is defined by transition function s. A system state is defined to be secure if the only permitted access modes of subjects to objects are in accordance with a security policy . To determine whether a specific access mode is allowed, the clearance of a subject is compared to the classification of the object to determine if the subject is authorized for the specific access mode. Cleanup date April 2008 In computer science , Secure Transmission refers to the transfer of data such as confidential or proprietary information over a secure channel . Many secure transmission methods require a type of encryption . The most common email encryption is called public key infrastructure PKI . In order to open the encrypted file an exchange of Key cryptography keys is done. Many infrastructures such as banks rely on secure transmission protocols to prevent a catastrophic breach of security. Secure transmissions are put in place to prevent attacks such as ARP spoofing and general data loss . Software and hardware implementations which attempt to detect and prevent the unauthorized transmission of information from the computer systems to an organization on the outside may be referred to as Information Leak Detection and Prevention ILDP , Information Leak Prevention ILP , Content Monitoring and Filtering CMF or Extrusion Prevention systems and are used in connection with other methods to ensure secure transmission of data. Secure transmission over wireless infrastructure main Wired Equivalent Privacy WEP is a deprecated algorithm to secure IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. Wireless networks broadcast messages using radio, so are more susceptible to eavesdropping than wired networks. When introduced in 1999, WEP was intended to provide confidentiality comparable to that of a traditional wired network. A later system, called Wi Fi Protected Access WPA has since been developed to provide stronger security. Web based secure transmission main secure socket layer Transport Layer Security TLS and its predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer SSL , are cryptographic protocols that provide secure communications on the Internet for such things as web browsing, e mail, Internet faxing, instant messaging and other data transfers.
