Unreferenced stub auto yes date December 2009 In agriculture and gardening , a drill is a shallow furrow in which seed s or bulb s are placed during seeding. A drill is commonly created by dragging a Hoe tool hoe through the soil in a straight line, leaving a furrow of a centimeter or two for smaller seeds, or a deeper trench of several centimeters for flower bulbs and seed potato es. It makes seeding faster than by individually burying seeds, and also facilitates the creation of straight rows. Image Pipe rack.jpg 400px right Image Drill pipe.jpg 400px right Drill pipe , is hollow, thick walled, steel pipe material piping that is used on drilling rig petroleum drilling rigs to facilitate the drilling of a wellbore and comes in a variety of sizes, strengths, and weights but are typically 30 to 33 feet in length. They are hollow to allow drilling fluid to be pumped through them, down the hole, and back up the annulus oil well annulus . Because it is designed to support its own weight for combined lengths that often exceed 1 mile down into the Earth s crust , the case hardened steel tubes are expensive, and owners spend considerable efforts to reuse them after finishing a well, replacing the drill stems with thinner walled tubular casing, tapping the natural resources of oil reservoirs. Used drill stem is often sent to a yard for inspection, sorted, and stored until new drill sites can be explored. Modified instruments similar to the spherometer are used at inspection sites to identify defects in the metallurgy , in order to prevent fracture of the drill stem during future wellboring. Drill pipe is a portion of the overall drill string. The drill string consists of both drill pipe and the drill stem which is the tubular portion closest to the bit or downhole assembly. Drill pipe and drill stems can be differentiated in that the drill pipe is quite flexible and produced in longer segments whereas the drill stem is much more rigid and manufactured in shorter task specific segments. On larger diameter lines, tension strengths over a million pounds are possible. To make a connection is to add another segment of drill pipe onto the top the drill string . A segment is added by pulling the kelly drive kelly above the rotary table, stopping the mud pump, hanging off the drill string in the rotary table, unscrewing the kelly from the drill pipe below, swinging the kelly over to permit connecting it to the top of the new segment which had been placed in the Mousehole drilling mousehole , and then screwing this assembly into the top of the existing drill string. For the artist Matt Schwartz The Drill is an international chart topping house music record written produced and performed by electronic music pioneer and Israel i born UK producer Matt Schwartz in mid 2004 for His label Destined Records . He was imitated on numerous occasions firstly by DJs Pakito and Tom Snare. The electro house scene was just beginning to emerge as a musical style at the time and The Drill was the first artist to create a rich, pitched leads sound which started to appear in many electro house compositions. Many new artists emerging in late 2006 Outwork, Tocadisco, The Egg, etc. , and even already existing ones Tiesto , Global Deejays , Royal Gigolos have slowly integrated this style into their remixes by 2006 7. The Drill is considered one of the founders of the 2009 Dutch House movement which sound is based around the same synth riff Matt Schwartz has used on his seminal The Drill in 2004 with the addition of a pitch bend. 1. Drifter (drill)

A Drifter is either a hydraulic or pneumatic powered rock or ground drill placed on top of a feed. The feed is like a rail that the drill travels on, aka. drifts. This kind of drilling procedure is also called drifting. The feed is usually attached with a flexible boom like an arm to a stationery or mobile unit that contains the powerpack engine and hyd. pump or compressor . Drifters are used in mining , construction , exploration and natural science . A hydraulic rock drill or drifter is usually a machine, that consists of a percussive system and a rotative system. The percussive system strikes the drill steel, for example 2000 5000 strikes per minute as the rotation can be, for example, 100 400 rounds per minute. Combined together, these functions enable drilling holes into rock. The excess material cuttings is then pushed up from the bottom of the hole by means of pressurized air or water. Hydraulic rock drills are also called hydraulic top hammers, which explains the position of the actual drilling device concerning the drill rod. Opposite to a top hammer drill or drifter is the down the hole hammers, which are usually pneumatic . Category Construction equipment Tech stub ...   more details
