Wikify date August 2011 Richard Gall 1776 1801 , was a Scottish people Scottish poet . Gall, the son of a notary , was born at Linkhouse , near Dunbar , in December 1776. Having attended the parish school of Haddington , he was apprenticed at the age of eleven to his maternal uncle, a carpenter and builder. He afterwards became a printer s apprentice in Edinburgh , and there he gave his leisure to study. He then became travelling clerk to a Mr. Ramsay, in whose employment he remained till his death, 10 May 1801. His powers attracted considerable attention during his lifetime, and he enjoyed the friendship of Robert Burns Burns and Thomas Campbell poet Thomas Campbell . Several of his songs were set to music, and became popular. Two of these, The Farewell to Ayrshire, and Now bank and brae are clad in green, were falsely assigned to Burns the former was sent by Gall to Johnson s Scots Poetical Museum, with Burns s name prefixed, and the latter appeared in Cromek s Reliques of Burns. Biography Along with his two brothers Franz and Adolf, as youngest of three racing brothers, Karl Gall began his motor cycle racing career in 1924 in Austria. A serious accident at the 1930 German Grand Prix, Karl Gall suffered a serious fracture to the hand which prevented him from racing. First as a contracted works BMW rider from 1927, then contracted to Standard Fahrzeugfabrik GmbH motor cycles company of Ludwigsburg from 1929 to 1933 and from 1936 onwards Karl Gall returned to BMW to develop the 500c BMW Type 255 Kompressor racing motor cycle. Gall Morel Order of Saint Benedict O. S. B. was a poet, scholar, aesthete, and educationist, born at St. Gallen , Switzerland , on 24 March, 1803 died at the Abbey of Einsiedeln on 16 December, 1872. His baptismal name was Benedict, but in the monastery he took the name of St. GallGall . In 1814, he entered the gymnasium at St. Gallen St. Gall . A pilgrimage to Einsiedeln in 1817 influenced him deeply, and afterwards he entered the monastery school as a novice. In 1820 he took the final vows, and after several years spent in theological and philosophical studies, was ordained priest in 1826, being appointed forthwith instructor in the monastery school.
