One, based on Tacitus , places them in Central Sweden, what may have been a part of Kvenland in the 1st century, according to medieval sources. Another view places them roughly in modern Estonia and or Finland . Sitones were a Germanic people Germanic or Baltic Finns Finnic people living somewhere in Northern Europe in the 1st century Common Era CE . They are only mentioned by Cornelius Tacitus in 97 CE in Germania book Germania . Tacitus considered them similar to Suiones ancestors of modern Sweden Swedes Upon the Suiones, border the people Sitones and, agreeing with them in all other things, differ from them in one, that here the sovereignty is exercised by a woman. So notoriously do they degenerate not only from a state of liberty, but even below a state of bondage. ref Tacitus, Germania , wikisource Germania XLV Germania.XLV ref Speculations on Sitones background are numerous. 1. Eva Dickson

Eva Dickson , born Eva Lindstr m Steninge Slott , Sigtuna 1905 Calcutta , India, 22 April 1938 , was a Swedish explorer , rally driver and writer. She was the first woman to have crossed the Sahara desert by car. She was the perhaps first female rally driver in Sweden 1925 , and the third female aviator in Sweden 1923 . Biography Eva Dickson was the daughter of the wealthy Albert Lindstr m, who managed stud farms for Horse breeding , and Maria Lindstr m. She married the rally driver Olof Dickson in 1925, and the former spouse of Karen Blixen , Baron Bror von Blixen Finecke , in 1936. Eva Dickson travelled by car from Nairobi to Stockholm in 1932, and from Belgium to Calcutta in 1937. Her travels attracted great attention, and she published several travel guides and descriptions of her experiences. She made her travels by making bets with various wealthy society people. In 1937, she planned to travel from China to Sweden by the Silk Road . After having reached Calcutta, however, she was reached by the news of the Second Sino Japanese war and was therefore forced to change her plans. Shortly after, she was taken ill and treated with a cure of arsenic in a hospital in Calcutta, which worsened her condition. She left the hospital, and died in a car accident while driving shortly thereafter. He was the father of Ingvar . The Eysteinn tumulus stens h g in V ster s near stanbro has been linked to King Eysteinn by some popular historians. The term H g is derived from the Old Norse word haugr meaning mound or barrow. Snorri Sturluson relates that Eysteinn ruled Sweden at the time when Hr lf Kraki died in Lejre . It was a troubled time when many sea king s ravaged the Swedish shores. King Olaf II of Norway and King Anund Jakob of Sweden took advantage of the commitment of Danish King Canute the Great Cnut to England and began to launch attacks on the Danish in the Baltic Sea . The Swedish and Norwegian navies led by kings Anund Jacob and Olaf II lay in wait up a river for the navy of King Cnut, which was commanded by Danish earl Ulf Jarl . ref http runeberg.org nfcj 0491.html Ulf Jarl Nordisk familjebok ref Cnut s navy was massive and his own ship is said to have been 80 metres long. The Swedish and the Norwegian kings ordered a large dam made of peat and lumber on the river. When the Danish navy sailed in, the water was released and a great many Danes and Englishmen drowned in the deluge. However, Cnut s men were apparently able to win the battle.
