SkyNews with Martin Stanford was a news programme on SkyNews which ran between 8 00pm and 10 00pm Monday to Friday between July 2006, and February 2007. As the name suggests, the show was usually fronted by Martin Stanford , however other presenters who stood in for Stanford included Colin Brazier and Martin Popplewell . The show started on 10 July 2006, after a change in the channel s line up. It replaced World News Tonight UK TV series World News Tonight and then an hour of SkyNews. It was an interactive show which encouraged viewers to contribute by using webcams and 3G phones to send video messages, or by email or SMS to send in comments or join in debates about the day s main news stories. The format changed in the event of breaking news and the show had different graphics and strings to other SkyNews shows. The programme is produced by a specific team of foreign news specialists. The back half hours in this time slot are known as Sky World News and Business Review and contain further international news stories and more in depth business coverage. Despite this little difference in content, the two half hours are branded separately. The programme was initially started in the Summer of 2005, in the build up to the revamp of SkyNews, the first bulletin was presented by Anjali Rao who is now an anchor with CNN. The programme employs its own sports presenter, Graeme Winch, who reads the sport live all other overnight sports bulletins are recorded . The weather presenter did records special weather forecasts shown throughout the hour which cover Africa, Europe and the world as a whole, however when sky reduced the weather team to just two forecasters and the presenter now reads the forecast with the weather graphics over, the same format used by the rest of the skynews schedule exepct Sunrise The programme is unique in that it is now the only slot to rotate the desk to use the globe backdrop. From Monday to Thursday, the show is presented by Anna Botting whilst Friday to Sunday Stephen Dixon newsreader Stephen Dixon fronts the programme. History The show was originally launched in 1999 following the move of ITV s ITV News at Ten News at Ten . At this time, the show used its own special version of the SkyNews graphics and a unique mix of the SkyNews Music. Over the years, the show has been presented by many of Sky s presenters although between 2002 and October 2005, the show had no set presenters, with a group of five or six rotating the duties. These included Chris Roberts Newsreader Chris Roberts , Vivien Creegor , Stephen Dixon newsreader Stephen Dixon , Allan King, Emma Crosby , and Martin Popplewell . In May 2010, SkyNews at Ten began to air in the United States on the Fox Soccer Channel cable network at 2am Eastern Time until the start of the European season in August, mainly because of the programme s comprehensive look at the sports of the day and to reduce conflicts with ESPN due to sister network Sky Sports News usually airing at that time. The substitution of SkyNews at Ten was purposeful, as Fox Soccer Channel was disallowed to use video imagery of the 2010 FIFA World Cup because of ESPN holding exclusive English language rights to the tournament, which would have necessitated heavy redaction of Sky Sports News broadcasts to remove those clips.
