  1. World Food Conference

The first World Food Conference was held in Rome, Italy Rome in 1974 by the United Nations under the auspices of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization FAO , in the wake of the devastating famine in Bangladesh in the preceding two years. Perhaps the most famous statement made at the conference was by then U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger who made the declaration that within 10 years no child would go to bed hungry. While this bold declaration was in no way fulfilled, it did galvanize public attention, stimulate debate and studies on the feasibility of such a goal. Governments attending the World Food Conference proclaimed that every man, woman and child has the inalienable right to be free from hunger and malnutrition in order to develop their physical and mental faculties. The Conference set as its goal the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition within a decade. The most researched food by the scientists, Spirulina dietary supplement Spirulina was declared as possibly the best food for the future for the humnkind because of its inherent nutritional benefits in the same conference. Among other outcomes, the conference put in place a World Food Council subsequently disbanded and led to follow up World Food Conferences. It is an accessory pigment to chlorophyll . All phycobiliproteins are water soluble and therefore cannot exist within the membrane as do carotenoids , but aggregate forming clusters that adhere to the membrane called phycobilisome s. Phycocyanin is a characteristic light blue colour, absorbing orange and red light, particularly near 620  nm depending on which specific type it is , and emits fluorescence at about 650  nm also depending on which type it is . Allophycocyanin absorbs and emits at longer wavelengths than Phycocyanin C or Phycocyanin R. Phycocyanins are found in Cyanobacteria previously called blue green algae . Phycobiliproteins have fluorescent properties that are used in immunoassay kits. Phycocyanin is from the Greek phyco meaning algae and cyanin is from the English word cyan , which conventionally means a shade of blue green close to aqua and is derived from the Greek kyanos which means a somewhat different color dark blue. The product phycocyanin, produced by Aphanizomenon flos aquae and Spirulina dietary supplement Spirulina , is used in the food and beverage industry as a natural coloring agent Lina Blue and is found in sweets and ice cream.
