  1. Stationary distribution

Stationary distribution may refer to The limiting distribution in a Markov chain Steady state analysis and limiting distributions Markov chain The marginal distribution of a stationary process or stationary time series The set of joint probability distribution s of a stationary process or stationary time series In some fields of application, the term stable distribution is used for the equivalent of a stationary marginal distribution, although in probability and statistics the term has a rather different meaning see stable distribution . Crudely stated, all of the above are specific cases of a common general concept. A stationary distribution is a specific entity which is unchanged by the effect of some matrix or operator it need not be unique. Thus stationary distributions are related to eigenvector s for which the eigenvalue is unity. Stationary fronts will either dissipate after several days or devolve into shear lines, but can change into a cold front cold or warm front if conditions aloft change. A stationary front becomes a shearline when the density contrast across the frontal boundary vanishes, usually as a result of temperature equalization, while the narrow zone of wind shift persists for a time. The term stationary orbit in celestial mechanics refers to an orbit around a planet or moon where the orbiting satellite or spacecraft remains orbiting over the same spot on the surface. Richard s cholesterol is dangerously high, largely due to his high fast food intake. The doctor tells him an interesting anecdote in relation to the number. He likens Richard s metabolism to a team of workmen who clear the various junk foods that Richard ingests. As Richard ages, these metabolic workmen tire out and begin to slow down, resulting in heart trouble. This metaphor strikes Richard, and he ultimately becomes somewhat obsessed with the idea. Determined to lose weight, Richard sets up a stationary bike in his basement. At first, he hangs a map of the United States on the wall, imagining himself traveling to a foreign destination with each mile. As time passes, though, the notion of the metabolic workmen enters his mind again, and he paints a bizarre landscape on a mural , depicting four tired workers clearing a fat laden road. DASH is capable of recording two channels of Sound audio on a quarter inch tape, and 24 or 48 tracks on convert 1 2 in mm adj mid wide tape on open reel s of up to 14 inches. The data is recorded on the tape linearly, with a stationary recording head , as opposed to the Digital Audio Tape DAT format, where data is recorded helically with a rotating head, in the same manner as a VCR . The audio data is encoded as linear pulse code modulation PCM and boasts strong cyclic redundancy check CRC error correction, allowing the tape to be physically edited with a razor blade as analog tape would, e.g. by cutting and splicing, and played back with no loss of signal. In a two track DASH recorder, the digital data is recorded onto the tape across nine data tracks eight for the digital audio data and one for the CRC data there is also provision for two linear analog cue tracks and one additional linear analog track dedicated to recording time code . 1. Stationary ergodic process

In probability theory , stationary ergodic process is a stochastic process which exhibits both stationary process stationarity and ergodic process ergodicity . In essence this implies that the random process will not change its statistical properties with time and that its statistical properties such as the theoretical mean and variance of the process can be deduced from a single, sufficiently long sample realization of the process. Stationarity is the property of a random process which guarantees that its statistical properties, such as the mean value, its moment mathematics moments and variance , will not change over time. A stationary process is one whose probability distribution is the same at all times. For more information see stationary process . Several sub types of stationarity are defined first order, second order, n th order, wide sense and strict sense. For details please see the reference below. An ergodic adjective ergodic process is one which conforms to the ergodic theorem. The theorem allows the time average of a conforming process to equal the ensemble average. In practice this means that statistical sampling can be performed at one instant across a group of identical processes or sampled over time on a single process with no change in the measured result. Also see ergodic theory and ergodic process . References Peebles,P. Translation invariance is achieved by removing the downsamplers and upsamplers in the DWT and upsampling the filter coefficients by a factor of math 2 j 1 math in the math j math th level of the algorithm ref Mark J. Shensa, The Discrete Wavelet Transform Wedding the A Trous and Mallat Algorithms, IEEE Transaction on Signal Processing, Vol 40, No 10, Oct. 1992. ref . 1. Stationary target indication

Stationary target indication STI is a mode of operation of a radar to discriminate a target against clutter radar clutter . ref name eh In contrast to another mode, moving target indication MTI , it cannot take an advantage of the fact that the target moves with respect to clutter. Therefore the radar must exploit some intrinsic characteristics of the target which are different from those of clutter. The simplest method is available when the apparent size of the target is relatively small with respect to clutter source. In this case the reduced pulse and beam width which matches the expected target size may produce good signal to noise ratio target to clutter ratio . Additional discrimination capabilities rely on target imaging or scattering properties of the target. ref name eh Jerry C.
