Unreferenced date December 2009 History of Scandinavia width 175 picwidth 150 The Nordic StoneAge refers to the StoneAge of Scandinavia . Late Upper Paleolithic Main Upper Paleolithic As the ice receded, reindeer grazed on the plains of Denmark and southernmost Sweden, while along the coast of western Sweden, marine resources were exploited. This was the land of the Ahrensburg culture and preceding Hamburg culture , tribes who hunted over territories 100,000  km vast and lived in teepee s on the tundra . On this land there was little forest but white birch arctic white birch and rowan , but the taiga slowly appeared. Mesolithic Main Mesolithic In the 7th millennium BCE , when the reindeer and their hunters had moved for northern Scandinavia, forests had been established in the land. A culture called the Maglemosian culture lived in Denmark and southern Sweden, and north of them, in Norway and along the coast of western Sweden, the Fosna Hensbacka culture , who lived mostly along the shores of the thriving forests. Utilizing fire, boats and stone tools enabled these StoneAge inhabitants to survive life in northern Europe . The northern hunter gatherers followed the herds and the salmon run s, moving south during the winters, moving north again during the summers. These early peoples followed cultural traditions similar to those practiced throughout other regions in the far north &ndash areas including modern Finland , Russia , and across the Bering Strait into the northernmost strip of North America comprising portions of today s Alaska and Canada . As always, the episode was written by members of The Goodies. Plot It s the weekend and the Goodies are happy about this, but whilst Graeme reads, Bill s and Tim s hobbies are getting on each others nerves, so they decide to do neither and tell Graeme that they are bored. Graeme is no longer happy because they disturbed him. He then explains the book he is reading is about the prehistoric age. Then, while explaining, Graeme thinks there are prehistoric fossils under the office and falls down a deep hole. Bill and Tim decide to rescue him, but Tim confesses he is not going down. Bill goes in the hole alone but, when he goes down the hole, he pulls Tim down too. They both fall to the bottom, where they find Graeme has turned a tunnel into the Goodies own tunnel. They find a Tyrannosaurus Rex with its mouth open and look into the mouth, when it suddenly closes on them. Refimprove date May 2007 notability date February 2008 The Settlers of the StoneAge is a German board game , heavily based on The Settlers of Catan , with a stoneage theme. It is a member of the Catan series of games, and as such it is created by Klaus Teuber and published by Kosmos publisher Kosmos in German and Mayfair Games in English. Gameplay The game is played upon a fixed board representing a map of the world. Each player is in control of a separate tribe, and the tribes have, at the start of the game, colonized the entire continent of Africa. Players seek to gain victory points by settling in the four other major areas around the board Europe , Asia , Australia , and the Americas . Gameplay is similar to Catan in that resources are collected in the same manner, but that is how the similarities end. To expand, players must use their resources to create explorers, then use resources to move the explorers to a new location, where, for an additional cost in resources, the explorers are turned into new settlements. A player has a limited supply of settlements, and if the supply is exhausted, one settlement must be disbanded to make room for the new settlement. Resources may also be spent on developing technologies in one of four different paths, each of which has their own benefits. The first player to reach the highest level in any given technology is awarded victory points. Scattered throughout the board are exploration markers, which may be uncovered if a player has the sufficient levels of technology and has an explorer that moves past the marker. Exploration markers may grant victory points, cause desertification in Africa where hexes cease to become productive , or allow the player to move either one of the game s two robber figures the neanderthal and the sabre toothed tiger . ref http www.profeasy.com SettlersoftheStoneAge index.html ref References Reflist Catan navbox Category Settlers of Catan board game stub ... more details
