The Straits of Moyle Sruth na Maoile in Irish language Irish and Scottish Gaelic language Scottish Gaelic or Sea of Moyle is the name given to the narrowest expanse of sea in the North Channel Great Britain and Ireland North Channel between northeastern Ireland County Antrim and southwestern Scotland Mull of Kintyre . The distance between the two shores is approximately 12 miles 20 km at its closest point, and thus it is possible to see across in clear weather conditions. Life He was son of Robert Moyle of Bake, Cornwall Bake in St. Germans, Cornwall buried 9 May 1604 , by his wife Anne, daughter of Henry Lock of Acton, Middlesex buried 12 April 1604 . The Kanmon Straits Kanmon Kaiky or the Straits of Shimonoseki is the stretch of water separating two of Japan s four main islands. On the Honsh side of the water is Shimonoseki , which contributed Kan to the name of the strait and on the Ky sh side is Kitaky sh , whose former city and present ward, Moji ku, Kitakyushu Moji , gave the strait its mon .
