    Orphan date October 2010 Cleanup date January 2010 Syriac Orthodox Church of Germany was a self governing branch of the Indian Malankara Orthodox Church . Later the Indian Orthodox Church disassociated itself with this church and excommunicated the bishops of the Church. This is a church that was originally formed as a result of the disputes which arose between the German Church and their parent Syriac Orthodox Church . Mar Severious Moosa Gurgan was ordained as the first Metropolitan of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Germany in 2008 by Dr.Thomas Mar Athanasius and Dr. Yuhanon Mar Milithios in Thrissur with the help of Late Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios. Presently there are about 100 families in Germany in this self governing part of Indian Orthodox Church. In extraordinary circumstances, the episcopal synod of the Malankara Orthodox Church approved the consecration later under. Normally, ordinations have to be approved by the synod before consecration.
