The Tableau de Concordance was the main French diplomatic code used during World War I the term also refers to any message sent using the code. It was a superenciphered four digit code that was changed three times between 1 August 1914 and 15 January 1915. The Tableau de Concordance is considered superenciphered because there is more than one step required to use it. First, each word in a message is replaced by four digits via a codebook. These four digits are divided into three groups one digit, two digits, one digit so that when the whole message has been translated into code, the four digit sets can be put together so it looks like the entire message is made up of two digit pairs. This is called a Straddle Gimmick. Then, in turn, each of these two digit pairs and the single digits at the beginning and end are each replaced by two letters. The letters are then combined with no spaces for the final ciphertext. The manual for the Tableau de Concordance included the instruction that if there was not adequate time for completely enciphering the message, simply send it in clear, because a partially enciphered message is practically a window into the inner workings of the code. Two ballroom dancers, a man and a woman named Reginald and Thelma Harris, are hurriedly getting ready for an event. A lampshade which had used bullets as a counterweight has broken and a woman crawls on the floor to look for them. The mother plays the tuba. The inspector arrives and asks about the family s memories of a man they had seen outside of the Tate Gallery where a Ren Magritte exhibit is being held. He invents an entirely false story, accusing the family of complicity in a crime known as the Crippled Minstrel Caper. As he continues, the stage picture becomes increasingly ridiculous. For instance, the couple offers the inspector a banana as the male dancer stands on one foot. refimprove date November 2007 The Pageant of Our Lord is a living arts pageant produced by Rolling Hills Covenant Church in Rolling Hills Estates, California . The pageant, started in 1986, presents the life of Christ through living art accompanied with narration, a 60 voice choir, and a full orchestra every year for 17 performances in the weeks leading up to Easter . Since its founding, the show is believed to have been seen by over 160,000 people. Each year the pageant presents 14 works of art, and over the years the pageant has re created over 40 art pieces that are stored and rotated through yearly to make the pageant different year after year. Famous works of art recreated in the pageant include Leonardo DaVinci s The Last Supper and Michelangelo s Piet which, due to popular demand, are included every year. Music to accompany the art includes famous works such as Handel s Hallelujah Chorus , Modest Mussorgsky s The Great Gate of Kiev from Pictures at an Exhibition , and Martin Luther s A Mighty Fortress is Our God . The pageant is the creation of over 300 volunteers who help as models, make up artists, actors, singers, musicians, carpenters, ushers, and technicians. The pageant was founded by Producer and Music Director Dr. David Halverson and Art Director Rassie Harper who got the idea from Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach, California . The first production featured 6 works of art and man challenges to the founders of the pageant. Today, while Halverson remains the Producer and Music Director, the current Art Director is Brad Hicks.
