Tad Dennis , born Timothy Alan Dennis, is a world class athlete in the men s single slalom canoe division and a current member of the USA Canoe Kayak National Team. Tad was born on May 28, 1984 in Riverdale, Georgia. He grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia and attended McIntosh High School , graduating in 2002. Tad began kayking at age 7 and began competing in the sport of whitewater slalom at age 11. From ages 11 to 13 Tad was on the US National Team for the Cadet age group, competing in the solo kayak K1 men s division. Tad then switched to the men s single canoe C1 men s division at age 14 and was a member of the US National Team for the Junior age group until he was 17. Frank Tad Gormley 1884 1965 was the former head of the New Orleans Gymnastics Club and Amateur Athletic Union. He was a native of Cambridge, Massachusetts . In 1907, he moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to run the Young Men s Gymnastic Club . He was also a trainer at Loyola University New Orleans Loyola , Tulane University Tulane and Louisiana State University LSU , an official in the New Orleans Prep School Athletic League, football and basketball referee and superintendent of City Park Stadium. From 1921 until 1923, he served as the head LSU Tigers basketball men s basketball coach at LSU, posting a 25 11 record. In 1962, he was elected to the National Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame. The former City Park Stadium in City Park New Orleans City Park, New Orleans was renamed Tad Gormley Stadium in his honor. He was the uncle of Joseph L. Gormley .
