It is located on a steep cliff, and might previous to later use been an early hill fort . It was constructed in 1503 or 1504 by the squire Nils Ragvaldsson from by, after a recent Swedish attack on Viken, Norway Viken . Most of it was destroyed shortly after, when the commander of Bohus Fortress Otto Rud attacked on Christmas night 1504. After the turmoil created by the dethronement of the Denmark Danish king Christian II of Denmark Christian II , the Swedes returned, seized the area and reconstructed Olsborg s fortifications. The brief Swedish rule of northern Bohusl n was administrated from Olsborg by the nobles Lars Siggesson Sparre and Ture J nsson Tre Rosor ,between 1523 and 1525. In 1525, the administration was moved to Karlsborg Castle , south of Hamburgsund . During these years, the castle defenses were improved, especially in 1526. During Christian II s attempt to retake his throne, the part of Bohusl n under Swedish rule was attacked, and both Karlsborg and Olsborg were destroyed by Norway Norwegian forces in December 1531. Decades later, several attempts to rebuild the castle was made by Sweden. Eric XIV of Sweden Eric XIV in 1564 and John III of Sweden Johan III in 1569 and 1570 both tried, but the attempts were unsuccessful and the castle remained in ruins. The Gerlesborg School of Fine Art lang sv Gerlesborgsskolan is an art school located in the village of Gerlesborg , south of Hamburgsund in Tanum Municipality , Bohusl n , Sweden . The school also has a branch in Stockholm and holds courses in Provence , France . History The Gerlesborg School of Fine Art was founded in 1944 by the painter Arne Isacsson . Hans From n , art historian, and J ran Salmson , artist, were also teachers at that time. The activities grew fast and Isacsson and From n bought the boarding house in Gerlesborg . In 1948, the college had its first course in Provence , France , in collaboration with Georg Suttner . At the beginning of the 1950 s, the college was really established and the basis of the currently important artistic and cultural centre was laid, both nationally and internationally. The contacts with musicians, composers, authors and performing artists were increased. In 1958, the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art in Stockholm was founded. The head teachers were Georg Suttner and Staffan Hallstr m . From autumn 1993, the college is housed in the building of a former elementary school in the district of Hjorthagen . In 1963, the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art Foundation was constituted and was allowed government subsidy. In 1969, at the schools 25 year anniversary, it was considered the largest free art college in Scandinavia .
