  1. South Pacific Television

File South Pacific Television logo.jpg frame South Pacific Television logo, 1976 1980 right South Pacific Television was a television channel in New Zealand , which operated between 1976 and 1980. The Early Days The channel, then known as TV 2 New Zealand TV 2 , first went to air on June 30, 1975. It was the second television network to be established in the country that year, after TV One New Zealand Television One went to air on April 1, replacing the former New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation s TV service. In its first week, the network held New Zealand s first Telethon in aid of the St John Ambulance. It raised 593,878. The network could only be picked up in Auckland and Christchurch when the channel first went to air, but it was limited in Christchurch due to a faulty transmitter. It was another three months before the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty got coverage and by late November, the channel was available in Wellington before spreading throughout the rest of the country. The Second Year In 1977, broadcasting hours were cut on both channels and as a result South Pacific Television lost sixteen hours of broadcast time a week, forcing the channel to begin its broadcasting day at 3pm. Network funding was cut for Television One and handed over to South Pacific in a move that bewildered some over at Television One. The effects of the cuts saw programme output on South Pacific increase. The End Is Near It was decided in 1979 by the National Government that the channels would be amalgamated under an administration which would end the competition that reared its head in 1975. South Pacific Television ended transmission on February 14, 1980 with a two hour farewell special. The next day, February 15, 1980, Television One and South Pacific Television were dissolved and became Television One and Television Two, under the newly formed Television New Zealand . 1. South Coast Television

South Coast TV was a television deflector and MMDS service operating in County Cork , Republic of Ireland Ireland . Its headquarters were in Carrigaline . History South Coast TV was founded in 1985 as the Carrigaline Community Television Project, to provide a multi channel TV service to the people of Carrigaline initially, and later much of the rest of Co. Cork who, at the time, were unable to receive cable service. The service was operated using an antenna array, erected in the Comeragh mountains, which was then relayed to Carrigaline for further transmission around the county. The service initially provided just one channel ITV Wales & West HTV Wales , but was quickly followed by BBC One Wales BBC One and BBC Two Wales BBC Two . Eventually, the fourth Welsh channel was added, S4C . From the early 1990s, the service was able to carry up to six channels with one or two of Sky1 , Sky News or Eurosport in addition to the four terrestrial channels. The service from the originating transmitter was initially powered by tractor batteries replaced every few days by volunteers , until a long approx 2 mile power cable was laid with voluntary effort to the site some months later. Digital satellite was introduced in 2001 with BBC One BBC One Northern Ireland replacing BBC One Wales, BBC Two BBC Two Northern Ireland replacing BBC Two Wales, and Channel 4 replacing S4C. SCTV s analogue UHF service was always effectively a free to air service, and could be received by anyone within coverage using an appropriate domestic UHF aerial installation. The service relied on the goodwill of viewers to pay the annual sum of money sought by the operators. After a share offer to raise finance, a digital service SCTV Digital operating at 12  GHz with more than 60 channels was launched by SCTV in 2006 with plans for broadband. The service failed however as a result of free to air coverage of UK ... appointed Category Television in Ireland ...   more details
