Background The Links Club is a club for students and alumni of the Faculty of Engineering, Imperial College , formerly The City and Guilds College . Members are elected on the basis of good sportsmanship and meet each Thursday in South Kensington . History The Links Club was started in 1926 by four founding members C G RIP Mayer from Electrical Engineering, F J John Millard from Civil Engineering, GHN Bobbie Mayes from Electrical Engineering and J G Percy Shelley from Mechanical Engineering. The first meeting of the Club was held in October and in December a further eight members were elected. The Club was founded on three main principles 1. The furtherance of the interests and welfare of the Club and of the City and Guilds College 2. The promotion of friendship and good fellowship amongst the Members of the Club 3. Organising events and functions that will encourage this spirit Over the years, these three simple principles have been upheld in different ways.
