Copyright in HistoricalPerspective is an influential work of copyright scholarship by Lyman Ray Patterson . The book traces the history of Anglo Saxon copyright from the outgoing 15th century to the late 19th century. Starting with William Caxton s introduction of the printing press to England, Patterson documents the regulation of publishing in England and the United States . He identifies censorship as a driving force in early regulation and provides a detailed account of its impact on private copyright of the publisher s guild, the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers Stationers Company . He describes the system of printing patent s letters patent based on the Royal Prerogative that co existed with the Stationer s copyright and remained unaffected by the Statute of Anne . Based on Patterson s dissertation, the book was first published in 1968. As of 2010 it is still in print. Kathy Bowrey ranks the books as one of two major contributions made by lawyers to the history of copyright quotation The major contributions made by lawyers to the history of copyright date from the late 1960s when, within a year of each other, two American scholars, Benjamin Kaplan and Lyman Ray Patterson , published their works. Of these two books Patterson s offers the most detailed account of the development of copyright. ref cite journal author Bowrey, Kathy year 1996 title Who s writing copyright s history? journal European Intellectual Property Review volume 18 issue 6 pages 322 329 ref While she further notes that later authors writing on publisher and author perspectives on copyright failed to acknowledge the contributions made by Kaplan and Patterson, the book has still ... A patriline is literally a father line one s patriline is one s father and his father and his father... and so on. The two corresponding adjective forms are patrilineal and father line . One s patriline is thus a line of descent from a male ancestor to a Kinship descendant of either sex in which the individuals in all intervening generations are fathers. A man s genetic Y DNA and his family name in most cultures have descended down this same line from father to son. In a patrilineal Kinship and descent descent system agnatic descent , an individual is considered to belong to the same descent group as his or her father. This patrilineal descent pattern is much more common than matrilineality matrilineal descent , see the article on family name s which are almost all patrilineal surnames. Also for an indepth treatment of current patrilineal surnames , globally, see the same article. The agnatic ancestry of an individual is that person s pure male ancestry. An agnate is one s genetic relative exclusively through males a kinsman with whom one has a common ancestor by descent in unbroken male line. Confusing date May 2007 Perspective in pharmacoeconomics refers to the economic vantage point that is being taken in a pharmacoeconomic analysis, such as a cost effectiveness analysis or cost utility analysis . This will affect the types of costs resource expenditures and benefits that will be considered relevant to the analysis. Five general perspectives that are often cited in pharmacoeconomics include institutional, third party, patient , government al and society societal . The author must state the perspective and then insure that costs and valuations remain consistent with it throughout the study. If, for example, a pharmacoeconomic study is done from the institutional perspective, the medication cost would be relevant to the resource expenditures involved in the delivery of the therapy. Since the institution e.g. hospital incurs this expense, then it would be included. Other relevant costs might include inventory carrying cost, pharmacy time to compound or dispense, nursing time to administer, disposables e.g. medication cups or intraveous tubing and even allocated hospital overhead costs. The next component of perspective that needs to be addressed under perspective is valuation.
