Derrill s Race is an annual 5k race along the Manhan Rail Trial . The race is in memory of Sargent Derrill Stoddard, an honored Easthampton police detective, who died from Leukemia. The race is sponsored by the members and companies of the surrounding community. All proceeds are donated to The Cam Neely Foundation and Derrill s Race Scholarship Fund. Runners and walkers start at the Easthampton Police Department and ends at Wellness Within Chiropractic. There is also a one mile kid s race that takes place before the adult race. This 5K Run Walk benefit race has grown to attract over 430 runners participants, making it a wonderful community event . The race is held in memory of Sgt. Derrill Stoddard, of the Easthampton Police Department who lost his battle with leukemia in 2003. Each year since 2004, proceeds from Derrill s Race benefit charitable causes.
