His Sphaerics provided the mathematics for spherical astronomy , and may have been based on a work by Eudoxus of Cnidus . Francesco Maurolico translated his works in the 16th century. In addition to the Sphaerics , two other works by Theodosius have survived On Habitations , describing the appearances of the heavens at different climes , and On Days and Nights , a study of the apparent motion of the Sun. Theodosius Forrest 1728 1784 , was an author and lawyer. Life Forrest was the son of Ebenezer Forrest , a solicitor, author of Momus turn d Fabulist, and a friend of Rich and Hogarth, was born in London in 1728. He studied drawing under Lambert, one of the first landscape painters of his time, and until a year or two before his death annually 1762 81 exhibited at the Royal Academy. He then entered his father s business and became a steady solicitor, retaining, however, his artistic tastes. He had a passion for music, and could catch and reproduce an air with surprising quickness. He was a member of the Beefsteak Club, and his society was prized by Garrick and Colman. sfn Smith 1889 As solicitor to Covent Garden Theatre, Forrest was thrown into close relations with the dramatic profession, and he composed a musical entertainment. The Weathercock, produced at Covent Garden 17 Oct. 1775, said by Genest to be poor stuff. As a writer of songs, however, Forrest was more successful. He is said to have been exceedingly generous, a man of strict integrity, a good judge in matters of art, and an agreeable and entertaining companion. He earned considerable reputation for the rendering of his own ballads. Towards the close of his life Forrest was afflicted with a painful nervous disorder, attended with a black jaundice. He was thrown into a condition of deep melancholy, and on 5 November 1784 killed himself at his chambers in George Street, York Buildings, London. Forrest had a plentiful income, and was very charitable. He was a son of George II of Abkhazia , who sent Theodosius to be brought up at Constantinople . After his reigning brother Leon III of Abkhazia Leon III died in 967 , a rebel party of Meskheti an, Egrisi an and Kartli an nobles put him as a rival king to his brother, Demetrius III of Abkhazia Demetrius III . Victorious in the ensuing civil war, Demetrius had Theodosius captured and blinded. It was not until the death of childless Demetrius in 975, when Theodosius was able to ascend the throne. During his short and unhappy reign, the kingdom became engulfed into complete chaos and feudal anarchy combined with the raids by the Kakheti ans in the eastern frontiers of Kartli where the royal power had completely collapsed and a governor eristavi , Ioanne Marushis dze , allied with the Georgia country Georgian Bagrationi Bagratid prince David III Kuropalates of Tao Klarjeti Tao to install Theodosius s nephew sister s son Bagrat II of Abkhazia Bagrat as a ruler of Kartli in 975.
