River Tiber pronounced River Tye ber was started by 21 year old singer, multi instrumentalist, and producer Tommy Paxton Beesley in 2010. Painstakingly multitracking all the instruments, vocals, and sounds on his recordings, River Tiber has emerged as an original voice in Toronto s music scene. The latest EP, Massachusetts, is a stripped down, quiet, and intense collection of songs a focused departure from debut record From Now On s denser soundscapes. Currently working on a second LP, River Tiber s sound continues to evolve, with a gritty, driving electronic sound as the next step. Joined onstage by fellow musicians John Mavrogiannis, Thadeus Garwood, Kintaro Akiyama, and Andrew Smith, River Tiber comes alive as an energetic, powerful, inventive musical performance. ref http www.rivertiber.com about ref References references Uncategorized date March 2012 ... more details

The British School at Rome s Tiber Valley Project studies the changing landscapes of the middle Tiber Valley as the hinterland of Rome through two millennia. It draws on the vast amount of archaeological work carried out in this area to examine the impact of the growth, success and transformation of the city on the history of settlement, economy and society in the river valley from 1000 BC to AD 1000. The wealth of surface survey evidence in particular provides a valuable resource for examining these themes. However, no study has ever attempted to incorporate the wide range of settlement and economic evidence available and the full potential of the data for understanding these processes has been largely undeveloped. British work in this area goes back to the beginning of the 19th century with Thomas Ashby s pioneering study of the Roman campagna. However it was the South Etruria survey, directed by John Ward Perkins in the 1950s to 70s, which represented a milestone in Italian and Mediterranean landscape archaeology and stimulated a series of field survey s and excavations by British and, in particular, Italian archaeologists in this area. The Tiber Valley project involves twelve British universities and institutions as well as many Italian scholars. Tim Potter s classic synthesis of the South Etruria survey, The Changing landscape of South Etruria published in 1979, represented the first and only attempt to analyse developments in one part of this area through time. The first phase of the Tiber Valley project and the restudy of the South Etruria data has led to a fundamental reassessment of our historical and archaeological approaches to the Tiber valley, allowing a new reading ... on the Changing landscapes of the middle Tiber valley is now in preparation by the director of the project ... sub arch BSR Arch01.htm Tiber Valley Project http www.arch.soton.ac.uk Research tiber 20valley tv.html Roman Towns in the Tiber Valley Category Archaeology of Italy ... more details

File Plan Rome Pons Probi.png thumb Location of the Pons Probi on a map of ancient Rome The Pons Probi Bridge of Probus was a bridge over the River Tiber in Ancient Rome , just south of Porta Trigemina . The Pons Probi connected the Aventine Hill to the Trastevere . The Roman bridge was probably built during the reign of the Marcus Aurelius Probus Emperor Probus 276 282  AD . Possibly it was built because of the grain reforms of Aurelian , Probus s predecessor, which necessitated a number of List of Roman watermills aqueduct powered water mills in this area, and a bridge to transport the grain from these across the Tiber. In 374 there was a heavy flood of the Tiber, and it is likely that the flood inflicted considerable damage on the bridge.
