  1. Trinity Alps giant salamander

The Trinity Alps giant salamander is an alleged giant salamander that is reported to live in the Trinity Alps of northern California . It is often considered a cryptid , as no specimen has ever been recovered and it is not a recognized species. Although the salamander is larger than most salamander species inside the United States, it is comparable in size to the hellbender . It was first reported in the 19th century and has not been reported frequently since the early 20th century. Tom Slick led an expedition to search for the creatures, but it was not successful. An elderly man interviewed during the expedition claimed to have seen several salamanders the size of alligators on the lake shore in his youth. A member of the giant salamander family Cryptobranchidae , known as the hellbender is found in the eastern United States, and in fact the cryptobranchid family may have had its origins in North America. ref cite journal last Naylor first Bruce G. title Cryptobranchid Salamanders from the Paleocene and Miocene of Saskatchewan journal Copeia date Feb. 10, 1981 volume 1981 issue 1 pages 76 86 doi 10.2307 1444042 publisher Copeia, Vol. 1981, No. 1 jstor 1444042 ref References Loren Coleman & Jerome Clark. 1. On the Trinity

On the Trinity De Trinitate is a Latin book written by Augustine of Hippo to discuss the Trinity in context of the logos . It is placed by him in his Retractations among the works written meaning begun in AD 400. In letters of AD 410, AD 414, and at the end of AD 415, ref Ad Consentium , Ep. 120, and two letters Ad Evodium , Epp. 162, 169. ref it is referred to as still unfinished and unpublished. But a letter of small caps A.D. 412 ref Ad Marcellinum , Ep. 143. ref states that friends were at that time asking to complete and publish it. And the letter to Aurelius, which was sent with the treatise itself when actually completed, states that a portion of it, while it was still unrevised and incomplete, was in fact surreptitiously made public. It was still in hand in AD 416 in Book XIII, a quotation occurs from the 12th Book of the De Civitate Dei and another quotation in Book XV., from the 90th lecture on St. John. The Retractations , which refer to it, are usually dated not later than AD 428. The letter to Bishop Aurelius also states that the work was many years in progress, and was begun in St. Augustine s early manhood, and finished in his old age. Arthur West Haddan inferred from this evidence that it was written between AD 400, when he was forty six years old, and had been Bishop of Hippo about four years, and AD 428 at the latest but probably was published ten or twelve years before this date, around 417. ref s Nicene and Post Nicene Fathers Series I Volume III Doctrinal Treatises of St. Augustin On the Holy Trinity Translator s Preface Translator s Preface ref Notes Reflist External links s Nicene and Post Nicene Fathers Series I Volume III Doctrinal Treatises of St. Augustin On the Holy Trinity At Wikisource English http www.logoslibrary.org augustine trinity index.html Logos Library Augustine On the Trinity Translated by Arthur West Haddan Category 5th century Christian texts Category Christian theology books Category Catholic theology and doctrine Category Trinitarianism ...   more details
