  1. Don and Juan

Unreferenced stub auto yes date December 2009 Don and Juan were an R&B vocal duo from Brooklyn, NY, consisting of Roland Don Trone and Claude Juan Johnson. Johnson had previously sung with a doo wop group called the Genies, who reached 71 on the Billboard pop charts in 1959 with Who s That Knockin on the Shad label. Contrary to doo wop lore, Trone was never with the Genies. Apartment painters Claude Johnson and Roland Trone Don and Juan respectively contributed one hit to the history of rock & roll, What s Your Name, a track that skirts the fine line between old 50s doo wop and the emerging proto soul style waiting in the wings. The duo never found another hit, but tracks like Chicken Necks, Two Fools Are We, and Magic Wand are equally fine examples of their sound. A minor collection by these one hit wonders, but great fun anyway. Don & Juan s sole top 40 hit was What s Your Name Don and Juan song What s Your Name on Big Top Records , which climbed to 7 on the Billboard magazine Billboard pop charts in 1962. Roland Trone died in May 1982 at age 45 Claude Johnson died on October 31, 2002, at age 67. Their hit What s Your Name was featured on the soundtrack of It Came from Hollywood in 1982. It is considered one of the signature classics of the doo wop vocal style. This song was recently nominated to the Doo Wop Hall of Fame . Publication history Lone Sloane s first episode was that of Druillet s very debut, Myst re des Ab mes , published in 1966. The following stories were published on the France French magazine Pilote from February 1970 to April 1971. The series was subsequently revamped by the author for the magazine Metal Hurlant . Plot The stories are set in a future 800 years after a catastrophic event called the Great Fear . Lone Sloane, after his spaceship has self destructed, is launched into space and caught by an abstract entity , He Who Seeks . He is then thrown into a different dimension, where he is turned into a cursed space rogue and freebooter with red eyes and strange powers. He finds himself caught in an inter galactic struggle featuring space pirates, gigantic robots, dark gods and other dimensional entities. In a way not so different from the Silver Surfer and Galactus , or Odysseus Ulysses and Greek mythology Greek Gods , he is compelled to wander without an end in a universe which is alien to him. A striking feature is also the quasi Baroque style of Druillet s artwork, which renders in a personal way Lovecraft s space nightmares mixed with M.C. Escher s influences.
