unreferenced date February 2007 The introduction of Motorola Type II SmartZone introduced the IntelliRepeater . An IntelliRepeater , or IR, site is a bare bones trunked site which has no database of users or talkgroups . It is simply sophisticated software running on a Quantar repeater. It is meant to be controlled by the Zone Controller and to be commanded as to who has permission and who does not. There are some very basic restrictions in the event Site Trunking a site loses its link to the Zone Controller does occur but for all intents and purposes once an IR site is in Site Trunking mode it s a free for all site. IR sites are generally used for a small geographic area or to fill in holes. For sites that are used to fill in coverage traffic is very limited. To allow as limited a number of channels for use, and to be spectrum efficient, Voice On Control VOC was developed to permit the control channel to temporarily act as a voice channel. This allows as little as one channel per site, but access must be severely restricted to the site or communication problems will occur. When all channels at a VOC enabled site are in use, or a single channel site gets a call request, there is specific data sent out over the control channel to notify all radios at the site that the control channel will be momentarily switching to voice channel mode. Once this happens radios resort to their programmed information which contains timing values that determine what to do once the timer runs out and there is still no control channel Signal Out of Range, switch sites, etc. available. main Signaling telecommunications Line signaling is a class of telecommunications Signaling telecommunication signaling Communications protocol protocols . Line signaling is responsible for off hook , ringing signal , answer, ground start , on hook unidirectional supervision messaging in each direction from calling party to called party and vice versa. After an off hook, line signaling initiates register signaling to accomplish the exchange of telephone number s of called party and in more modern line signaling protocols, the calling party as well. While register signaling occurs, line signaling remains quiescent unless the calling party goes on hook or an abnormal cessation of the call occurs, such as due to equipment malfunction or shutdown or due to telecommunications network network outage upstream in that call attempt s series of spanned trunks. Line signaling can be conveyed in a single DS0 channel of a trunking trunk . In modern PCM telecommunications, line signaling is represented by the ABCD bits in DS0 16 of an E carrier E1 or a selected DS0 within a Digital Signal 1 T1 . Line signaling can also be conveyed within the channels being supervised, as in the original T1 scheme which used one out of every eight bits for supervision, or with Robbed bit signaling robbed bits of a superframe format, or as in band signaling , e.g. as in L1 signaling where 2280  Hz tone pulses are used. Logic Trunked Radio LTR is a system developed in the late 1970s by the E. F. Johnson Company . LTR is distinguished from some other common trunked radio system s in that it does not have a dedicated control channel. Each repeater has its own controller and all of these controllers are coordinated together. Even though each controller monitors its own channel, one of the channel controllers is assigned to be a master and all the other controllers report to it. Typically on LTR systems, each of these controllers periodically sends out a data burst approximately every 10 seconds on LTR Standard systems so that the subscriber units know that the system is there. The idle data burst can be turned off if desired by the system operator. Some systems will broadcast idle data bursts only on channels used as home channels and not on those used for overflow conversations. To a listener, the idle data burst will sound like a short blip of static like someone keyed up and unkeyed a radio within about 1 2 second. This data burst is not sent at the same time by all the channels but happen randomly throughout all the system channels. Virtual LACP VLACP is a Avaya extension of the Link Aggregation Control Protocol to provide a Layer 2 handshaking protocol which can detect end to end failure between two physical Ethernet interfaces. It allows the switch to detect unidirectional or bi directional link failures irrespective of intermediary devices and enables link recovery in less than one second. With VLACP, far end failures can be detected, which allows a Link aggregation trunk to fail over properly when end to end connectivity is not guaranteed for certain links through the internet in an aggregation group. When a remote link failure is detected, the change is propagated to the partner port. refimprove date December 2011 Subscriber trunk dialling STD , also known as subscriber toll dialling is a term for a telephone system allowing subscribers to dial trunking trunk calls without telephone operator operator assistance. Terminology As well as the UK, the term subscriber trunk dialling is used in other countries such as the Republic of Ireland , Australia and India . The corresponding term in the North American Numbering Plan USA and Canada is direct distance dialing direct distance dialling . The term was extended when, on 8 March 1963, subscribers in London were able to directly dial Paris using International Direct Dialling international subscriber trunk dialling . Explanation Image MumbaiIndiaiPhoneCellphoneShots2011 3.jpg thumb Typical signboards of STD booths kiosks from where STD calls can be made in India The introduction in the UK of subscriber dialling of long distance calls removed the distinction that had existed between Trunk vs Toll Trunk and Toll calls. This term however, is still widely prevalent in India to describe any national call made other than one s local unit. A subscriber is someone who subscribes to, i.e. rents, a telephone line and a trunk call is one made over a Trunking trunk line , i.e. a telephone line connecting two exchanges a long distance apart. Now that all calls may be dialled direct, the term has fallen into disuse. History In the UK, STD started on 5 December 1958 when the Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom Queen , who was in Bristol , dialled a phone call to Edinburgh &ndash the furthest distance a call could be directly dialled. ref name 1958 cite web url http www.btplc.com Thegroup BTsHistory 1912to1968 1958.htm title Events in Telecommunications History 1958, BT s history , btplc.com date 2008 06 18 accessdate 2008 08 12 ref The STD system was completed in 1979, ref name 1979 cite web url http www.btplc.com Thegroup BTsHistory 1969to1980 1979.htm title Events in Telecommunications History 1979, BT s history , btp ... more details

It was launched in third quarter of 2005 using Motorola s proprietary iDEN technology operating on the SMR 800 frequency band. BRAVO TELECOM is mainly focused in offering professional radio service to the corporate and governmental sector, with no consumer centric prepaid offering because network is in partnership with the incumbent operator STC which runs its own GSM & 3G network under the commercial name of Aljawal which primarily addresses this sector. The other two cellular operators launch a Push to talk PTT service similar in function to the one uniquely offered by bravO through its digital trunking network, but the former companies used a technology called Push to Talk over Cellular PoC to facilitate this offering, however bravO push to talk service remains the fastest and most reliable in the industry given the dedicated and optimized nature of the iDEN network being used specifically for this purpose. BRAVO TELECOM s sister company in neighboring Jordan XPress Telecom XPress operates the same system, which enables customers in both sides to place international PTT calls, a similar service to the one operated between Sprint Nextel s iDEN subscribers and their counterparts in other operators in the Americas such as Telus iDEN customers in Canada and Mexico s NII Ho ... more details
