Refimprove date January 2010 No footnotes date January 2010 The Mississauga Blob was the name given to a flaming object&mdash later identified as a Flying disc frisbee &mdash that fell on a back yard picnic table in Mississauga , Ontario , Canada , at about 5 00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 1979. Traven Matchett and his daughter Donna were in their backyard when the flaming object plummeted onto their picnic table. The object reportedly passed close to nineteen year old Donna s head. She extinguished the flames with a garden hose. The glowing, flaming object is said to have been perfectly cylindrical with flames about 18  inches high. After cooling, the remains appeared to be a flat, dark green rock, 8  inches in diameter with a fibrous, pock marked texture. Traven Matchett contacted Toronto Pearson International Airport then Toronto International Airport , a nearby Canadian Forces base, the University of Toronto and the Ontario Science Centre . Apparently, none of these contacts offered Mr. Matchett any explanation. He then contacted the Toronto Sun and a story was published on Sunday, June 27, 1979, attracting worldwide attention. The Ministry of the Environment Ontario Ontario Ministry of the Environment sent an inspector. Regional Municipality of Peel Peel Regional Police questioned the family and neighbours and concluded the object was a flaming Frisbee thrown into their yard as a prank. Image St Hilda, UofT.jpg right thumb 300px St Hilda s College St Hilda s College is the women s college of the University of Trinity College , itself a federated college of the University of Toronto , Canada . Although all women registered at Trinity College are considered students of St Hilda s College, it is not an independent body and today serves only an administrative function. St Hilda s College was named after Hilda of Whitby St Hilda of Whitby. History The University of Trinity College admitted its first women student in 1884. In 1888, it was decided that a distinct college was required for Trinity s women students. St Hilda s College was initially opened in a building on Euclid Avenue, Toronto, with two resident students. The college was moved to a building on Shaw Street in 1889, then to a set of two larger houses on the same street in 1892, and in 1903 to a larger, purpose built building on the main Trinity College grounds. In 1925, when Trinity College moved from its original location on Queen Street to the main University of Toronto campus, St Hilda s College was moved to 99 St. George Street. The final move took place in 1938, when the current St Hilda s building on Devonshire Place was opened. In 2005, the administration of Trinity College elected to end the practice of same sex residency as a result, St Hilda s College now houses both men and women. References Reed, T.A. Ed. 1952 .
