italic title Taxobox name Dull Babul Blue image image width image caption regnum Animal ia phylum Arthropod a classis Insect a ordo Lepidoptera familia Lycaenidae genus Azanus species A. uranus binomial Azanus uranus binomial authority Arthur Gardiner Butler Butler 1886 The Dull Babul Blue or Indian Babul Blue Azanus uranus is a small butterfly found in India that belongs to the Lycaenidae Lycaenids or Blues family. Description Closely resembles A. ubaldus , Cramer. The male on the upperside has the ground colour much paler and the terminal edging on both fore and hind wings much narrower, reduced, in fact, to a conspicuous dark brown anticiliary line, while the two dark spots at the tornal area of the hind wing are more or less obsolescent. In the female on the upperside the ground colour is also much paler than in the female of ubaldus , but the suffusion of purplish blue at the base of the wings in a solitary female specimen is spread slightly further outwards than it is in the female of ubaldus . Underside ground colour greyish white character and disposition of the markings much as in ubaldus , but faint and not clearly defined, often many of them scarcely traceable the transverse subbasal row of black spots on the hind wing either completely absent or barely visible. The black subcostal spot in interspace 7, though smaller than in ubaldus , seems to be always present, while the tornal black spots seem to be particularly large and prominent in both sexes. ref name Bingham Bingham, C. 1. Transit of Venus from Uranus

Unreferenced date April 2008 A Astronomical transit transit of Venus across the Sun as seen from Uranus takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and Uranus, obscuring a small part of the Sun s disc for an observer on Uranus. During a transit, Venus can be seen from Uranus as a small black disc moving across the face of the Sun. Naturally, no one has ever seen a transit of Venus from Uranus, nor is this likely to happen in the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, the next one will take place on September 22, 2028. A transit could be observed from the surface of one of Uranus moons rather than from Uranus itself. The times and circumstances of the transits would naturally be slightly different. The Venus Uranus synodic period is 226.347 days. It can be calculated using the formula 1 1 P 1 Q , where P is the sidereal orbital period of Venus 224.695 days and Q is the orbital period of Uranus 30,799.095 days . Transits of Venus from Uranus are empirically observed to occur in clusters, with two such clusters every 40 years or so. border cellspacing 0 cellpadding 5 align center Transits 2001 2100 September 22, 2028 May 7, 2029 December 19, 2029 August 2, 2030 March 17, 2031 October 29, 2031 May 28, 2068 January 9, 2069 August 24, 2069 April 7, 2070 November 20, 2070 See also Astronomical transit External links http ssd.jpl.nasa.gov ?horizons JPL Horizons transit visibility table Uranus Category Transit of Venus Uranus Category Uranus ko ...   more details

  1. Transit of Mars from Uranus

Unreferenced date April 2008 A Astronomical transit transit of Mars across the Sun as seen from Uranus takes place when the planet Mars passes directly between the Sun and Uranus, obscuring a small part of the Sun s disc for an observer on Uranus. During a transit, Mars can be seen from Uranus as a small black disc moving across the face of the Sun. Naturally, no one has ever seen a transit of Mars from Uranus, nor is this likely to happen in the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, the next one will take place on December 13, 2018. A transit could be observed from the surface of one of Uranus moons rather than from Uranus itself. The times and circumstances of the transits would naturally be slightly different. The Mars Uranus synodic period is 702.653 days. It can be calculated using the formula 1 1 P 1 Q , where P is the sidereal orbital period of Mars 686.98 days and Q is the orbital period of Uranus 30,799.095 days . space.jpl.nasa.gov only works from 1990 to 2025. Although a Rocket engine Chemically powered chemical propulsion mission to Uranus is possible, solar power solar powered Electrically powered spacecraft propulsion electric propulsion is preferred as it will allow a larger spacecraft mass. The proposed mission would launch in the years 2020 2023. 1. Solar eclipses on Uranus and Neptune

unreferenced date November 2011 File Arieluranus.jpg thumb right Hubble Space Telescope HST image of Ariel transiting Uranus, complete with shadow alt the planet Uranus is seen through the Hubble telescope, its atmosphere defined by bands of electric blue and green. Ariel appears as a white dot floating above it, casting a dark shadow below Solar eclipse s on Uranus and Neptune occur when any of the natural Natural satellite satellites of both Uranus and Neptune pass in front of the Sun as seen from both planets. For bodies which appear smaller in angular diameter than the Sun, the proper term would be a astronomical transit transit . For bodies which are larger than the apparent size of the Sun, the proper term would be an occultation . The six satellites of Uranus Puck moon Puck , Miranda moon Miranda , Ariel moon Ariel , Umbriel moon Umbriel , Titania moon Titania and Oberon moon Oberon would pass the solar disk and capable of producing shadows in the form of eclipses during the planet s polar changes as it faced the equator , while the smaller ones are too small and too distant to be able occult the Sun, so can only transit the Sun. Most of the more distant satellites also have orbits that are strongly inclined to the plane of Uranus s orbit, and would rarely be seen to transit. While Neptune s Triton moon Triton can produce a shadow in the form of an eclipse because of the moon s orbital inclination, the smaller ones are also the same as Uranus s distant satellites in the form of transits. 1. Transit of Uranus from Neptune

Image Uranus transit.jpg right 400px thumb Transit of Uranus from Neptune. This is what one would look like, but there was no transit at the given date. Stellarium is not able to make accurate calculations that far from present. A transit of Uranus from Neptune occurs when Uranus passes directly between the Sun and Neptune . Uranus can then be seen from Neptune as a small black disk edging slowly across the disk of the Sun. A central transit lasts about 42 hours. This is the rarest of all single transits involving the eight planet s, owing to the long synodic period of 172 years of Uranus from Neptune , the very small apparent diameter of the Sun 1.07 arc minutes, close to the limit of human Visual acuity visual resolution as seen from Neptune, and the mutual inclination of the two orbits, 1.5 degrees, which is less than that of most planetary pairs. The next transit of Uranus from Neptune will occur in October, 38172 CE. Transits seen from Pluto are even rarer, due to the inclination of its orbit, compared to those of the planets.
