Use dmy dates date April 2012 Unreferenced date December 2009 A viceroy s commissioned officer VCO was a senior Indian member of the British Indian Army . VCOs were senior in rank to warrant officer s in the British Army , and held a commission issued by the governor general of India viceroy . Also known as Indian officers or native officers , they were treated in almost all respects as commissioned officer s, but only had authority over Indian troops and were subordinate to all British King s and Queen s commissioner officers and king s commissioned Indian officer s. These ranks were created to facilitate effective liaison between the United Kingdom British officers and their native troops. The soldiers who were promoted to VCO rank had long service and good service records, spoke reasonably fluent English language English , and could act as a common liaison point between officers and men and as advisers to the British officers on Indian affairs. VCOs were always treated and addressed with respect. Even a British officer would address a VCO as, for instance, subedar sahib or name sahib . Ranks held by VCOs were Cavalry regiment s Jemadar Risaldar or Ressaidar Risaldar major also called ressaidar major or wordi major Infantry regiments and other arms Jemadar Subedar Subedar major Similar ranks are retained in the Indian Army and Pakistan Army , where they are known as junior commissioned officer s JCOs . The Yamaha CS30 CS30L is an analog Keyboard instrument keyboard synthesizer that was released in 1977. It is the top of the range in Yamaha s original line up of monophonic synthesizers, others in the range being the CS5, CS10 and CS15. It features two voltage controlled oscillators VCOs , two voltage controlled filters VCFs both featuring low pass, band pass and high pass options , two voltage controlled amplifiers VCAs and three envelope generators. It also sports a ring modulator and a voltage controlled low frequency oscillator LFO . It is fairly unusual for a hard wired synthesizer in that it features a variety of switches which allow the user to re route the signal flow from the usual VCO VCF VCA convention. For example, VCO 1 can output a square wave through VCF 1 whilst also outputting a high pass filtered sawtooth wave through VCO 2. Another example is that the envelope generators can be assigned to any of the VCO, VCF and VCA modules and can also be inverted. Because the LFO is voltage controlled, the oscillating speed can be governed by an envelope generator and different waveforms can be applied to the other modules all at the same time. The CS30 CS30L also features an external signal input for filtering other musical instruments and audio sources, which can also be used as a modulation source. The major difference between the CS30 and the CS30L is that the former includes an onboard eight step analogue sequencer. The latter came with chrome legs and was built into a tolex case for easier transportation. Because of its signal routing flexibility, the CS30 CS30L is generally considered to be an excellent source of bizarre electronic sounds. ref http 212.242.106.33 etcetera public instruments CS 30 cs30page.htm YAMAHA CS 30 SYNTHESIZER Bot generated title ref It has been used by 808 State . ref http www.vintagesynth.com yamaha cs30.shtml Vintage Synth Explorer Yamaha CS 30 Bot generated title ref and by Alphawezen . ref http www.mole.de eng Artists talk ab ... more details

A phase frequency detector PFD , in electronics, is a device which compares the phase of two input signals. It has two inputs which correspond to two different input signals, usually one from a voltage controlled oscillator VCO and another from some external source. It has two outputs which instruct subsequent circuitry on how to adjust to lock onto the phase. To form a Phase locked loop PLL the PFD phase error output is fed to a loop filter which integrates the signal to smooth it. This smoothed signal is fed to a voltage controlled oscillator which generates an output signal with a frequency that is proportional to the input voltage. The VCO output is also fed back to the PFD to form the PLL circuit. The PFD is an improvement over the phase comparator s of early PLLs in that it also provides a frequency error output as well as a phase error signal. ARP synthesizer . It was controlled by connecting the control voltage CV output of a ARP synthesizer s keyboard to the Little Brother s CV input. The Little Brother had a single voltage controlled oscillator VCO with selectable waveforms, and a sub octave divider that could produce up to three additional tones simultaneously at 1, 2 and 3 octave intervals. It also had a Low frequency oscillation LFO , and a pitch bend master tuning knob. However, it had no voltage controlled filter VCF , voltage controlled amplifier VCA or envelope generator EG or ADSR . When used with other ARP synths to fatten up their sounds, the Little Brother s audio output had to be patched into the external audio input of its companion synthesizer, essentially adding an extra VCO and LFO to the system. Very basic in its design and use, the Rogue featured a 32 note keyboard and two Voltage controlled oscillator VCO s. VCO number 2 is tunable between a half step below to an octave above VCO number 1. This allows the Rogue to play atonal sounds like the Moog Prodigy. The Rogue did not have features to allow the user full flexibility to program the patch settings, however the Voltage controlled filter VCF and the Variable gain amplifier VCA were simple in operation. The design of the hardwired patch system was well thought out considering its size and cost and a wide variety of sounds and modulation effects are possible. The Rogue also includes a Sample and Hold feature that the Prodigy does not . The synthesizer is most commonly used for its powerful bass sound bass . The Rogue is similar in some respects to the famous ARP Odyssey , though smaller and slightly less versatile. Moog Music was criticized for repackaging the Rogue as the Moog Taurus Taurus II , changing the design to a pedal operated synthesizer with little difference in sound quality. The Rogue is very similar in design and sound to the less expensive Moog Concertmate MG 1 , also made by Moog Music, but rebranded for RadioShack Realistic around the same time for home use. This was perhaps the first example of a keyboard designed for the home musician. Famous users Add ... more details

The synthesizer module included Bass, Solo Synth, and String sounds based on previous Orchestral and analog mono synths from Roland. There are a number of sliders to adjust the VCO, VCF, VCA, and LFO sections, but no memory to store your edits. The synth module is controlled by a highly modified guitar. It utilized a special pickup system that connected to the synth module via Roland s own 24 pin interface and controlled it using CV GATE signals generated by the guitar s pickup system while playing the guitar. In addition to the modified pickup, there were magnets under the face of the guitar that could increase its sustain. Performance accuracy was iffy but good for 1977 and pre MIDI.
