Vaughan Hanning Vaughan Lee 25 February 1836 7 July 1882 was an English Conservative Party UK Conservative politician who sat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom House of Commons from 1874 to 1882. Vaughan Lee was born Lee, the son of John Lee Lee of Dillington House, Ilminster and his first wife Jessy Edwards Vaughan, daughter of John Edwards Vaughan of Rheola. His father and maternal grandfather were MPs for Wells UK Parliament constituency Wells at the same time. Vaughan Lee was educated at Eton College and joined the Royal Scots Fusiliers 21st in 1854. He took part in the Crimean War in 1854 to 1855 including the Battle of Alma , the Battle of Inkerman , the Siege of Sevastopol 1854 1855 Siege of Sevastopol and the attack on the redan and Kinbourn. He was promoted to lieutenant in December 1854 and was wounded twice. In 1858, he became a captain and in 1859 retired from the army. He was a major in the Glamorganshire Light Infantry Militia, and a captain in the West Somerset Yeomanry Cavalry. Her family was distantly related to the Earl of Lisburne , whose crest and coat of arms are the same. As a child she had been brought up with the future Herbert Vaughan Cardinal Vaughan , her cousin. She married Mitchell Henry in 1852. They had nine children, five daughters and four sons. The youngest son Lorenzo Mitchell Henry became an international pigeon shot and invented the Henrite shot gun cartridge. He later became a record setting Tunny fisherman. In 1875 she died aged fifty of a fever contracted in Egypt . Her husband Mitchell Henry built a beautiful memorial church about a mile from Kylemore Abbey Kylemore Castle on the shore of the lake. Unreferenced date January 2008 Ivan Vaughan 18 June 1942 16 August 1993 was a boyhood friend of John Lennon , and later schoolmate of Paul McCartney at the Liverpool Institute , both commencing school there in Sept. 1953. He was born on the same day as Paul McCartney in Liverpool . He played bass guitar bass part time in Lennon s first band, The Quarrymen , and was responsible for introducing Lennon to Paul McCartney at a community event the Woolton village f te on July 6, 1957, where The Quarrymen were performing. McCartney impressed Lennon, who invited McCartney to join the band, which he did a day later. This led to the formation of Lennon McCartney Lennon and McCartney s songwriting partnership , and later of The Beatles . Vaughan studied classics at University College, London, married in 1966 and settled down to family life with a son and daughter, and became a teacher. Lennon and McCartney never forgot the friend who brought them together. For a time they put Vaughan on the payroll of their Apple company, in charge of a plan that never took off to set up a school with a Sixties, hippie style education ethos. Vaughan s wife Jan, a languages teacher, was hired to sit down with Lennon and McCartney and help with the French lyrics to the 1965 song Michelle song Michelle . In 1977 Vaughan was diagnosed with Parkinson s Disease . His book, Ivan Living with Parkinson s Disease was published in 1986 and he also featured in a documentary produced for the BBC in 1984 by Jonathan Miller about his search for a cure.
