distinguish Vere Street, Westminster Vere Street was a street in the Lincoln s Inn Fields area, between Clare Market at its eastern end and Duke Street, Clerkenwell Duke Street which, via Prince s Street , itself connected to Drury Lane at its western end. In 1847, he took passage in such one of the infamous coffin ship s that transported Irish emigrants to the New World, wanting to see for himself the horrendous conditions that were leading to the deaths of so many of these passengers.
