The first movement, Tempo Basic tempo markings Vivace Tempo Common qualifiers ma non troppo is written in sonata form in G major the second movement, Adagio Pi andante Adagio , is an expanded ternary form in E major E Music b major , and the third movement, Allegro molto moderato is a rondo in G minor with Coda music coda in G major . The Dotted note dotted rhythm motif from the two songs is not only directly quoted as a leading Theme music theme in the third movement of this sonata but also constantly appearing as fragmented rhythmic motif throughout the all three movements of the sonata so that the entire sonata has a certain coherency. The rhythm of the rain motif appearing in the middle section of the second movement is adapted to a funeral march . The two disruptive appearances of the main theme of the Adagio in the third movement also represent cyclic form used in this sonata. 1. Violin Sonata No. 4 (Beethoven)

The Violin Sonata No. 4 of Ludwig van Beethoven in A minor , his Opus 23, was composed in 1801 in music 1801 , published in October that year, and dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries . It followed by one year the composition of his Symphony No. 1 Beethoven first symphony , and was originally meant to be published alongside Violin Sonata No. 5 Beethoven Violin Sonata No. 5 , however it was published on different sized paper, so the opus numbers had to be split. Unlike the three first sonatas, Sonata No. 4 received a favourable reception from critics. It has three movement music movements Presto Andante scherzoso, pi allegretto Allegro molto The work takes approximately 19 minutes to perform. Presto The first movement, Presto, is in Sonata Form , and uses small fragments as opposed to two longer themes. The Exposition music exposition modulates to E minor , before returning to A minor prior to heading into the Development sonata form development . In the development, the themes are passed through all three parts Violin and both hands of the piano . In Bar 136, a new theme is introduced, similar to previous themes but different. This is a technique that Beethoven later used in the first movement on Symphony No. 5 Beethoven Symphony No. 5 . This theme leads directly into the recapitulation , but returns in the coda music coda . Both the Exposition and the Development and Recapitulation ... places the theme in the left hand of the Piano, whilst placing an inversion in the violin part. 1. Violin Sonata No. 1 (Prokofiev)

Sergei Prokofiev s Violin Sonata No. 1 in F minor , Op 80, written between 1938 and 1946 completed two years after Violin Sonata No. 2 Prokofiev Violin Sonata No. 2 , is one of the darkest and most brooding of the composer s works. The work is about 30 minutes long and is in four movements Andante musical terminology assai Tempo Italian tempo markings Allegro musical terminology brusco Andante Tempo Italian tempo markings Allegrissimo Andante musical terminology assai , musical terminology come prima Prokofiev had described the slithering violin scales at the end of the 1st and 4th movements as wind passing through a graveyard . The work was premiered by David Oistrakh and Lev Oborin , under the personal coaching of the composer. During rehearsals, Oborin played a certain passage, marked forte , too gently for Prokofiev s liking, who insisted it should be more aggressive. Oborin replied that he was afraid of drowning out the violin, but Prokofiev said It should sound in such a way that people should jump in their seat, and people will say Is he out of his mind? . ref Barney Zwartz, A masterclass in Prokofiev , The Age , 5 July 2008. This anecdote was supplied to the writer by Boris Berman , who studied with Oborin. ref The first and third movements of the sonata were played at Prokofiev s funeral by Oistrakh and Samuil Feinberg . ref Simon Morrison, The People s Artist , Oxford, 2009 ref Notes reflist External links http www.jmc.co.il musicfile.asp?mid 13 Recording of Violin Sonata No. 1 featuring violinist Sergei Ostrovsky sonata stub Category Compositions by Sergei Prokofiev Category Violin sonatas Prokofiev 01 Category 1946 compositions fr Sonate pour violon et piano n 1 de Prokofiev nl Sonate voor viool en piano nr. 1 Prokofjev ja 1 ...   more details
