Expert subject Free software date March 2011 The Perl virtualmachine is a Stack machine stack based Application virtualmachine process virtualmachine implemented as an opcode s Interpreter computing interpreter which runs previously compiled Perl programs. The opcodes interpreter is a part of the Perl interpreter, which also contains a compiler Lexical analysis lexer , Parsing parser and Compiler optimization optimizer in one executable file, commonly usr bin perl on various Unix like systems or perl.exe on Microsoft Windows systems. Implementation Opcodes The Perl compiler outputs a compiled program into memory as an internal structure which can be represented as a tree graph in which each node represents an opcode. Opcodes are represented internally by typedef s. Each opcode has next other and first sibling pointers, so the opcode tree can be drawn as a basic OP tree starting from root node or as flat OP list in the order they would normally execute from start node. Opcodes tree can be mapped to the source code, so it is possible to Decompiler decompile to high level source code. ref cite web url http perldoc.perl.org B Deparse.html title B Deparse Perl compiler backend to produce ..., require call Perl compiler functions which generate other opcodes in the same Perl virtualmachine ... language and Perl virtualmachine. The Virtual Light Machine VLM is a light synthesizer developed by Jeff Minter in 1990. ref name llama It was installed into a number of electronics, including the Atari Jaguar CD and Nuon DVD players. The Virtual Light Machine is, basically put, very similar to what would later be seen in music visualization s included with Winamp and other media player application software Media player s. When an Red Book audio CD standard audio CD is put into a VLM compatible device, the VLM loads, manifesting visualizations which appear on the screen that change with the music. The VLM is set apart from simple music visualizers by an interactive mode that allows users to manipulate graphics generation on the fly. VLM versions Three versions of the VLM software were released. VLM 1 is the version installed and developed for the Atari Jaguar CD. Nuon players featured version VLM 2. VLM 3 was to be the basis of the video game Unity video game Unity , which was in turn upgraded to form the basis of the Neon light synthesizer Neon light synthesizer, utilized in the Xbox 360 and Minter s Space Giraffe . Java VirtualMachine Tool Interface JVMTI, or more properly, JVM TI was introduced in Java Platform, Standard Edition J2SE 5.0 Tiger . This Interface computer science interface allows a computer program program to inspect the state and to control the execution of applications running in the Java VirtualMachine JVM . JVMTI is designed to provide an Application Programming Interface API for the development of tools that need access to the state of the JVM. Examples for such tools are debugger s or profiler computer science profiler s. The JVMTI is a native interface of the JVM. A library, written in C programming language C or C , is loaded during the initialization of the JVM. The library has access to the JVM state by calling JVMTI and JNI Java Native Interface functions and can register to receive JVMTI events using event handler functions that are called by the JVM when such an event occurs. JVMTI was defined through the Java Community Process by JSR 163. The JVMTI replaces the JVMPI Java VirtualMachine Profiling Interface and the JVMDI Java VirtualMachine Debug Interface . The JVMPI and the JVMDI are declared as being deprecated in J2SE 5.0 and were removed in Java SE6. JVMTI is the lowest level of the Java Platform Debugger Architecture .
