    Viscount of Kenmure was a title in the Peerage of Scotland . It was created by Charles I of England Charles I in 1633 for the prominent Presbyterian John Gordon, 1st Viscount of Kenmure Sir John Gordon, 2nd Baronet . He was made Lord Lochinvar at the same time, also in the Peerage of Scotland. The sixth Viscount was involved in the Jacobite Risings Jacobite Rising of 1715 . He was found guilty of treason and beheaded with his titles forfeited. However, they were restored by Act of Parliament in 1824 in favour of John Gordon, who became the tenth Viscount. He had earlier represented Kirkcudbright UK Parliament constituency Kirkcudbright in Parliament. The titles became dormant on the death of the eleventh Viscount in 1847. There are believed to have been descendants of the first Viscount living, but the titles have remained dormant. He was created a baronet in 1911 and elevated to Baron Leverhulme of Bolton le Moors in the County Palatine of Lancaster in 1917. His grandson, the 3rd Viscount, was Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire between 1949 and 1990 and Chancellor of the University of Liverpool from 1980 until 1993. The Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital at University of Liverpool Faculty of Veterinary Science Liverpool Veterinary School is named after him. He had three daughters but no sons and on his death in 2000 the title became extinct. The hulme section of the title was in honour of the 1st Viscount s wife, Elizabeth Hulme.     The title of Viscount Baltinglass was created twice in the Peerage of Ireland . The first creation was made on 29 June 1541 for Sir Thomas Eustace, who had been created Baron Kilcullen in September 1535. Both titles became extinct in 1585 on the death of the third viscount. The second creation was made on 27 June 1627 together with the Barony of Bantry for Thomas Roper. On the death of the third viscount in 1672, both titles became extinct.
