  1. Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force

The Niger Delta People s Volunteer Force http www.akumafiete.org is one of the largest armed groups in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria and is composed primarily of members of the region s largest ethnic group, the Ijaw people Ijaw . The group was founded in 2004 in an attempt to gain more control over the region s vast petroleum resources, particularly in Delta State . The NDPVF has frequently demanded a greater share of the oil wealth from both the state and federal government and has occasionally supported independence for the Delta region. Until 2005 the group was spearheaded by their presently incarcerated Citation needed date February 2010 charisma tic leader, Mujahid Dokubo Asari Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari , who is viewed by many Delta residents as a folk hero . Founding and initial conflict The NDPVF s strongly Ijaw people Ijaw agenda has led to conflict with both the Nigerian state and federal governments, as well as with neighboring ethnic groups, notably long time rivals the Itsekiri . This rivalry precipitated a number of conflicts in the region, centered primarily around the cities of Warri, Nigeria Warri and subsequently the oil capital of Port Harcourt . The issue of local government ward allocation has proven particularly contentious, as the Ijaw feel that the way in which wards have been allocated ensures that their superior numbers will not be reflected in the number of wards controlled by politicians of Ijaw ethnicity. Control of the city of Warri, the largest metropolitan area in Delta State and therefore a prime source of political patronage , has been an especially fiercely contested prize. This has given birth to heated disputes between the Ijaw, the Itsekiri and the Urhobo people Urhobo about which of the three groups are truly indigenous to the Warri region, with the underlying presumption being that the real indigenes should have control of the levers of power, regardless of the fact that all three groups enjoy ostensibly equal political rights ...   more details

With a no force policy, when a Database transaction transaction commits, the changes made to the actual objects are not required to be written to disk in place forced . A record of the changes must still be preserved at commit time to ensure that the transaction is durability computer science durable . This record is typically written to a sequential transaction log , with the actual changes to the database objects being changes which can be written at a later time. For frequently changed objects, a no force policy allows updates to be merged and so reduce the number of write operations to the actual database object. A no force policy also reduces the seek time required for a commit by having mostly sequential write operations to the transaction log, rather than requiring the disk to seek to many distinct database objects during a commit. 1. Military volunteer

Refimprove date December 2006 A military volunteer is a person who enlists in military service by free will, and is not a mercenary or a foreign volunteers foreign legionaire . Volunteers often enlist to fight in the armed forces of a foreign country. Military volunteers are essential for the operation of volunteer military volunteer militaries . Many armies, including the U.S. Army , formerly distinguished between United States Volunteers enlisted during a war, and Regular Army regulars who served on long term basis. Troops raised as state militia were always volunteers even when recruited by conscription , while U.S. troops could be volunteers or regulars. The rank of an officer in a volunteer unit was separate from his rank if any as a regular, and usually higher. When the volunteer forces were disbanded at the end of the war, officers with both kinds of commission reverted to their regular rank. For instance, George Armstrong Custer became a Brigadier general United States Brigadier General of volunteers during the American Civil War , but when the war ended, he reverted to Captain United States Captain . He was later promoted to Lieutenant colonel United States Lieutenant Colonel . Volunteer rank should not be confused with Brevet military brevet rank. The move to a volunteer over conscription force for a national military appears to improve, at least for the United States , the professionalism of its standing armed forces. One result, however, is that a nation may be more quick to go to war because it does not have to answer to the public as it would if it needed to increase conscription to support the involvement in the armed conflict. ref Shear, Jeff, http www.miller mccune.com culture america in the hands of a professional military 30240 America in the Hands of a Professional Military , Miller McCune , 15 April 2011. ref See also Foreign volunteer External links Commons category Military volunteers Notes reflist DEFAULTSORT Military Volunteer Category Military ...   more details
