Throughout her college years, she enjoyed volunteering with the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation , the American Cancer Society as well as several University committees. Marcie married her college sweetheart, Michael McPherson, prior to graduating. Upon gradation from college, Marcie enjoyed a very successful career in Pharmaceutical sales for Pfizer as well as a small biotech company, Elan. Marcie continued her volunteerism with the American Heart Association , American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society . In April 1999, she welcomed her first child, a son, Cole McPherson. Soon followed the birth of her second child in 2001, also a boy, Jack Hunter McPherson. In 2003, after a year of testing and battling severe exhaustion and pain, Marcie was finally diagnosed with Systemic lupus erythematosus lupus , rheumatoid arthritis and febrile myalgia . The park is named after famed England English explorer Henry Hudson , who is also the namesake of the nearby Hudson River and Henry Hudson Parkway . In 1906 it was decided to dedicate a monument celebrating the 300th anniversary of Hudson s arrival in what later became Lower New York Bay . The project encountered multiple delays, but in 1912 a large Doric order Doric column was set in place. Shortly afterwards, however, funds for the project ran out. The project was revived by Robert Moses in the late 1930s. By 1938, the area around the monument had been designated as a park and a statue of Henry Hudson had been placed atop the column. It encourages volunteerism from wider community, and organises community and social assistance programmes with the help of a monetary grant from the government. They are governed by the Community Development Council Rules 1997 . Organisation There are currently five CDCs, namely the Central Singapore Community Development Council North East Community Development Council North West Community Development Council South East Community Development Council South West Community Development Council The council boundaries follow that of the existing political divisions, with each handling between four to six Group representation constituency GRCs and Single member constituency SMCs and roughly dividing the country s population into equal parts. Each CDC is managed by a Council, which in turn is headed by a mayor and has between 12 to 80 members. The members are appointed by the Chairman or Deputy Chairman of the People s Association . Funding The CDCs are funded by an annual sum from the government directly proportionate to the number of residents living within their jurisdiction at a rate of S 1 per person. They are free to conduct their own fund raising programmes, which the government will match S 3 for every S 1 raised. The grant is raised to S 4 per S 1 donated through long term arrangements, such as via GIRO . The government also pays for the councils operational costs, including that for its offices. Since its founding in 1986, thousands of volunteers have dedicated their time to Chicago Gateway Green s efforts. DePorter worked for Hyatt Hyatt Hotels & Resorts for almost thirty years, serving as a regional vice president for approximately twenty of those years.
