Biography He was born in the village of arnel now in Plung district municipality , where he wrote most of his poems. His grandmother, who died in 1934, appears in most of his poems as a warm and pleasant memory. In his childhood Ma ernis was very withdrawn and thoughtful. Vytautas Ma ernis studied English language and literature in Kaunas and philosophy at the University of Vilnius . The poet had died on October 7, 1944 in emai i Kalvarija , hit by a stray bullet. Works Ma ernis dedicated his short life for searching the purpose of human s life. His first poem was published in 1936, the last one in October 1944. He has also served as Artistic Director of the uoliukas youth choir. He began his career in Azuoliukas at the age of seven as a vocalist, and continued as Artistic Director from the age of 25. Vytautas Petrulis born February 3, 1890 in Kateli s, near Vabalninkas executed in 1942, near Uchta , RSFSR was a Lithuania n politician, one of the main figures in the Lithuanian Christian Democrats party, and an accountant. He was Minister of Finance, Trade and Industry Lithuania Minister of Finance, Trade and Industry in the 7th, 8th, and 9th cabinets. In the 10th cabinet he was appointed as Minister of Finance. He was Prime Minister of Lithuania in the 11th Cabinet, also acting as Minister of Finances. On July 11, 1940 he was arrested by the Soviets and sent to the Kaunas Prison .
