Big Sonic Heaven was a music program created, hosted and produced by Darren Revell. Big Sonic Heaven had an eight year run from 1995 2003 on 96.3 FM WHYT, WPLT, WDVD in Detroit, Michigan . Big Sonic Heaven aired every Sunday evening for four hours and featured shoegaze , dream pop , trip hop , Britpop , and electronica by bands such as Cocteau Twins , Ride band Ride , Slowdive , The Cure , Dead Can Dance , Depeche Mode , Siouxsie and the Banshees , My Bloody Valentine band My Bloody Valentine , and The Smiths . Additionally, Darren Revell was instrumental in providing local talent with a radio presence. Revell made a significant impact in Detroit with the program, as there were very few radio shows that catered to this genre and its fans. Citation needed date July 2010 Darren revived Big Sonic Heaven on Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles, California in January 2007. The two hour program aired Mondays through Thursdays at 10pm. Playlists can be retrieved from the show s MySpace webpage. However, the last playlist available from the MySpace webpage is dated September 4, 2008. Indie 103.1 discontinued the show in October 2008. At 10am on January 15, 2009, Indie 103.1 went off the air.
