  1. Waldviertel Pyramid

Orphan date February 2009 The Waldviertel Pyramid is a pyramid in Waldviertel , Austria . It is hidden deep in the forest between Zwettl and Gross Gerungs. It is the only known structure of its kind in Central Europe. It is of unknown age, and consists of four stacked circular layers. The diameter at the base is 14 metres and the height is 7 metres. It has only been under official monument protection since 2001. The original purpose of the pyramid is unknown. An interpretation as a Germanic place of worship or ancient tomb is unlikely because there was no prehistoric or early settlement of this area. An interpretation as medieval or more recent signalling station seems debatable. The elaborate construction seems to indicate a relatively modern design which could have been in an aristocratic situation possibly part of a baroque garden or park. Because the remains of walls have been found nearby, it is possible that the pyramid was once part of a larger complex. Johanna was born and lived her entire life in the village of Spital part of Weitra in the Waldviertel of Lower Austria . On 5 September 1848, Johanna married Johann Baptist P lzl 1825 1901 , a farmer and son of Johann P lzl and Juliana Walli P lzl. The couple would eventually have five sons and six daughters. Of their eleven children, only two sons and three daughters survived into adulthood. Their seventh child and third daughter, Klara Hitler Klara , was born on their farm in Spital on 12 August 1860. On 17 September 1888, Johanna s elderly parents, Johann Nepomuk Hiedler Johann Nepomuk Hitler and Eva Maria Decker Hitler, died. Her daughter Klara would eventually become the third wife of Alois Hitler Alois Hiedler changed c.1876 from Schicklgruber later known as Alois Hitler, after at the age of forty, deciding on his stepfathers name, Hiedler, and the spelling was later changed by a clerk to Hitler . Alois was the Illegitimacy illegitimate son of Maria Schicklgruber , who had married Johanna s paternal uncle, Johann Georg Hiedler , on 10 May 1842. Alois would claim in later life that Johann Georg Hiedler was not his stepfather, but in fact his biological father and was officially declared his legitimate son in 1876, but this claim was met with great debate among historians as to Alois Hitler s actual paternity . Together, Klara and Alois had 6 children. The fourth of those six children, was Adolf Hitler born 20 April 1889 .
