  1. Wideband materials

Wideband material refers to material that can convey Microwave signals light sound over a variety of wavelength s. These materials possess exemplary attenuation and dielectric constants, and are excellent dielectric s for semiconductor gate s. Examples of such material include gallium nitride GaN and silicon carbide SiC . SiC has been used extensively in the creation of laser s for several years. However, it performs poorly providing limited brightness because it has an indirect band gap . GaN has a wide band gap 3.4 eV , which usually results in high energies for structures which possess electron s in the conduction band . 1. Wideband

for the automotive term Wideband automotive In Telecommunication communications , wideband is a relative term used to describe a wide range of frequencies in a spectrum . A system is typically described as wideband if the message bandwidth significantly exceeds the channel s coherence bandwidth . Some communication links have such a high data rate that they are forced to use a wide bandwidth signal processing bandwidth other links may have relatively low data rates, but deliberately use a wider bandwidth than necessary for that data rate in order to gain other advantages see spread spectrum . A wideband Antenna radio antenna is one with approximately or exactly the same operating characteristics over a very wide passband . It is distinguished from broadband antennas, where the passband is large, but the gain and or pattern need not stay the same over the passband. The term Wideband Audio or also termed HD Voice or Wideband Voice denotes a telephone conversation using a wideband codec , which uses a greater frequency range of the audio spectrum than conventional voiceband telephone calls, resulting in a clearer sound. 1. Wideband voice

multiple issues cleanup September 2009 confusing September 2009 orphan October 2009 Wideband Voice refers to the use of Wideband Codecs in Digital telephony . Wideband Codecs use higher sampling rate s than Narrowband Codecs or utilize embedded sub band coding techniques to effectively increase the bandwidth of the baseband voice, from the traditional 200  Hz to 3.5  kHz used in Narrowband Codecs, to 50  Hz at the low end and anywhere from 7  kHz to 22  kHz ref Cite web url http gipscorp.com blog 2009 04 13 answering the call of hd voice title Answering the call of HD Voice accessdate 2009 09 06 publisher Global IP Sound ref . at the high end, depending on the type of codec used. This results in a significant improvement in voice quality since it allows the wideband codec to transmit consonants , sibilants and other subtleties of the human voice formerly lost by narrowband codecs and significantly adds to the intelligibility and quality of the speech signal. In addition, some wideband codecs may use a higher bit depths of 16 bits to encode samples, also resulting in much better voice quality. 1. Wideband delphi

The Wideband Delphi estimation method is a consensus based technique for estimating effort. It derives from the Delphi method which was developed in the 1950 1960s at the RAND Corporation as a forecasting tool. It has since been adapted across many industries to estimate many kinds of tasks, ranging from statistical data collection results to sales and marketing forecasts. Wideband Delphi Process Barry Boehm and John A. Farquhar originated the Wideband variant of the Delphi method in the 1970s. They called it wideband because, compared to the existing delphi method, the new method involved greater interaction and more communication between those participating. The method was popularized by Boehm s book Software Engineering Economics 1981 . Boehm s original steps from this book were Coordinator presents each expert with a specification and an estimation form. Coordinator calls a group meeting in which the experts discuss estimation issues with the coordinator and each other. Experts fill out forms anonymously. Coordinator prepares and distributes a summary of the estimates Coordinator calls a group meeting, specifically focusing on having the experts discuss points where their estimates vary widely Experts fill out forms, again anonymously, and steps 4 to 6 are iterated for as many rounds as appropriate. In this process, a project manager selects a moderator and an estimation team with three to seven members. The Delphi process consists of two meetings run by the moderator. 1. Materials database

more references date January 2011 A materials database is a database used to store experimental, standards or design data for materials in such a way that they can be retrieved efficiently by humans or computer programs. ref name ps http books.google.co.uk books?id J45RAAAAMAAJ&q 22Material database 22 bamkin&dq 22Material database 22 bamkin&lr &pgis 1 Materials information for CAD CAM , Philip Sargent, 1991, ISBN 0750602775 ref Background Fast access and exchange of materials data between research, design and manufacturing teams working on different sites worldwide, is a challenging issue to be addressed during the product cycle in materials engineering. Another important issue is safeguarding high investments made into materials research, meaning that experimental data must be properly conserved, easily be located and quickly be retrieved. Materials databases MDBs are powerful tools to address these problems. ref name ps The development of factual materials databases began significantly in the 1980s with a leading standardisation role being taken by CODATA , ASTM E49 and the British Standards i.e. BSI Group BSI AMT4 6. Different types Various categories of MDBs exist for different requirements, for example containing standards data on metallic alloys and plastics or more complex database applications needed for design analysis. MDBs are basic elements for establishing knowledge ... increased.
