    William Frederick Wells 1762 10 Nov 1836 was an United Kingdom English watercolour landscape Painting painter and etcher . Wells was born in London in 1762. Wells studied art in London under John James Barralet 1747 1815 . On 20 November 1804, Wells initiated the founding of a watercolour painters society at a meeting at the Stratford Coffee House, Oxford St, London. Wells was president of the fledgling association, originally called the Society of Painters in Watercolours, from 1806 to 1807. He travelled and painted extensively in England and Europe, particularly in Norway and Sweden . Wells art was annually exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1795 to 1813. He held the post of Professor of Drawing at Addiscombe College for officers of the Honourable East India Company East India Company Army over twenty years from its opening in 1809. Wells was an intimate friend of Joseph Mallord William Turner . In later life, he retired to Mitcham , Surrey and died there on 10 November 1836.     Robert William Wells November 29, 1795 &ndash September 22, 1864 was a United States federal judge . Born in Winchester, Virginia , Wells read law to enter the bar in 1820. He was in private practice in Saint Charles, Missouri , from 1820 to 1821, and was a circuit attorney of the St. Charles Circuit from 1821 to 1822. He was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 1823 to 1826. He was the List of Attorneys General of Missouri Attorney General of Missouri from 1826 to 1836. On June 16, 1836, Wells was nominated by President Andrew Jackson to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Missouri vacated by James H. Peck . Wells was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 27, 1836, and received his commission the same day. On March 3, 1857, the District of Missouri was subdivided, and Wells was reassigned by operation of law to the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri . He served in that capacity until his death, in 1864, in Bowling Green, Kentucky .     William Thomas Wells Queen s Counsel QC 10 August 1908 &ndash 3 January 1990 was an England English barrister and Labour Party UK Labour Party politician. Wells was from an upper class background and went to the Public school UK Public School Lancing College near Brighton , and to Balliol College, Oxford Balliol College , University of Oxford Oxford . He was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1932. During World War II , Wells served in the British Army army on the General Staff to the War Office , being awarded the rank of Major. He was elected Member of Parliament for Walsall UK Parliament constituency Walsall in the United Kingdom general election, 1945 1945 general election . Although never taking Ministerial office, Wells s experience of the law was used on departmental committees. He was a member of the Lord Chancellor s Committee on the Practice and Procedure of the Supreme Court which sat from 1947 to 1953, of the Magistrates Courts Rules Committee from 1954, and of the Wolfenden Committee on Prostitution and Homosexual Offences from 1954 to 1957. Wells remained an active Barrister throughout his Parliamentary career and was made a Queen s Counsel in 1955. He was Deputy Chairman of Hertfordshire Quarter Sessions from 1961 to 1971, and in 1963 he became a Bencher of the Middle Temple. From 1965 to 1971 he was Recorder of King s Lynn, giving up the job when he became a Recorder of the Crown Court from 1972. Moderate in politics, Wells supported British membership of the European Union European Economic Community in 1971 against a three line whip.   1. William Benjamin Wells

    William Benjamin Wells October 3, 1809 April 8, 1881 was a lawyer, judge, journalist and political figure in Upper Canada . He was born in Augusta, Ontario Augusta Township in Upper Canada in 1809. He studied law with Marshall Spring Bidwell in Kingston, Ontario Kingston and was called to the bar in 1833. In 1834, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada representing Grenville County, Ontario Grenville as a Reform Party pre Confederation Reformer . Although he was reelected in 1836, he travelled to England to protest the interference by Sir Francis Bond Head in the election. He wrote Canadiana containing sketches of Upper Canada, and the crisis in its political affairs , which described radical Reform policies of the time. He did not involve himself in the Upper Canada Rebellion however, allegations of his involvement with William Lyon Mackenzie s Patriots led to his expulsion from the assembly. In 1851, he was appointed district court judge in Kent County, Ontario Kent County . He retired from the bench in 1878. He contributed articles on law and sport to various periodicals in Canada and the United States . He died at Toronto in 1881.
