Orphan date February 2009 A parole bond is a deposit of money or property made to the government as surety that a paroled prisoner will not violate the terms of his release. The prisoner may fund the bond himself or he may borrow from friends or family or he may obtain the services of a bondsman, in exchange for a fee. Part of the theory behind it is that those who are asked to put up the money or cosign the loan have an incentive to verify that the parolee does not represent an unacceptably high risk prior to helping with his release and they have an incentive to help him stay out of trouble after his release. The prisoner has an incentive to be on good behavior during his incarceration in order to demonstrate he has reformed and thus would not be at high risk of violating parole. While on parole, the prisoner has an incentive not to violate the terms, lest the bond be forfeited, which would likely cause difficulties in obtaining the surety of family, friends, or bondsmen in the future. Parole bonds are sometimes used as a way of relieving overcrowded prisons. ref http info.sen.ca.gov pub 97 98 bill sen sb 0401 0450 sb 441 bill 19970219 introduced.html SB 441 Senate Bill INTRODUCED Bot generated title ref It is based on the very similar concept of bailbond s and just as with bail bonds, some statutes allow the bondsman to get back all or a portion of the bond by surrendering the prisoner to the authorities. This may require the use of bounty hunter s to locate and capture him. Organizations like the National Association of Bail Insurance Companies and the American Legislative Exchange Council , a national bipartisan group of conservative legislators, have pressed the idea that financially secured postconviction release works far better than unsecured release. ref citation url http www.ncpa.org pub st233 title Privatizing Probation and Parole date June 01, 2000 author Morgan O. Bond order is the number of chemical bond s between a pair of atom s. For example, in diatomic nitrogen N N the bond order is 3, while in acetylene H C C H the bond order between the two carbon atoms is also 3, and the C H bond order is 1. Bond order gives an indication to the stability of a bond. In a more advanced context, bond order needs not be an integer. A good example of this is bonds between carbon in the molecule benzene , where the delocalized molecular orbital s contain 6 pi electron s over six carbons essentially yielding half a pi bond , together with the sigma bond , the bond order is 1.5. Furthermore, bond orders of 1.1, for example, can arise under complex scenarios and essentially refer to bond strength relative to bonds with order 1. In molecular orbital theory , bond order is also defined as the difference, divided by two, between the number of bonding electron s and the number ... result. In chemistry , bond strength is measured between two atom s joined in a chemical bond . ref JerryMarch ref It is the degree to which each atom linked to another atom contributes to the valency chemistry valency of this other atom. Bond strength is intimately linked to bond order . Bond strength can be quantified by bond energy requires lengthy calculations, even for the simplest bonds. bond dissociation energy Another criterion of bond strength is the qualitative relation between bond energies and the overlap of atomic orbital s of the bonds Linus Pauling Pauling and Robert S. Mulliken Mulliken . The more these overlap, the more the bonding electron s are to be found between the Atomic nucleus nuclei and hence stronger will be the bond. Overlap is necessary for the formation of molecular orbitals . This overlap can be calculated and is called the overlap integral .
