  1. Production blocking

Unreferenced date January 2007 Production blocking is a common problem in brainstorming groups. It is a tendency for one individual to block or inhibit other people during a group discussion. For example, if six people are in a group and one person is talking about his or her idea, then the other five people are blocked and less able to provide their own creative input. They may not have time to think of an idea, or they may be distracted or forget about their idea before they have an opportunity to share it. Production blocking becomes more of a problem as the size of the group increases. Production blocking is not the same thing as social loafing because it is an attentional or cognitive barrier, not a motivational one. ParaMind Brainstorming Software is one of many brainstorm ing software programs. Brainstorming software programs are a frequently used but still not popular type of software that have been in existence at least since the 1980s. ParaMind was the first of the generative programs that went beyond random word combination. ref Company Website www.paramind.net ref ParaMind was noted in the book Creative Problem Solving for Managers Developing Skills for Decision Making And Innovation , by Tony Proctor , and in the book Ideate with June A Valladares by June A Valladares. It was also mentioned in Root Cause Analysis Simplified Tools and Techniques , Second Edition by Bjorn Andersen, Tom Fagerhaug. ParaMind is also mentioned in Guide to Writing Empirical Papers, Theses, and Dissertations by G. David Garson. This book states ParaMind is another type of brainstorming software. It works by generating new text from your writing, thereby expanding on any idea based on one of hundreds of built in related word chains, to which the writer can add. As such, it goes beyond common writer s helper software that may ask the writer questions related to his or her subject, flow charting that writer s concepts or generating random word combinations that provide idea variations typed in by the author. In ParaMind, a single sentence or paragraph can be expanded and permuted into up to 100 pages of related statements. In simple merge mode, ParaMind operates as a sort of thesaurus, suggesting substitutes for words the writer highlights in text. However, in large merge mode, many pages of new, reworded relationships are generated, providing feedback on hundreds of new relationships and associations relevant ... 1. Disney method

The Disney Method is a brainstorming tool in which a group uses four specific thinking styles in turn. It involves parallel thinking to analyse a problem, generate ideas, evaluate ideas, construct and critique a plan of action. The four thinking styles are outsiders, dreamers, realisers and critics. In the first thinking style the group think as outsiders to gain an analytical, external view of the challenge. They then act as dreamers to brainstorm ideal solutions. They use divergent thinking to conceive creative and radical ideas. In the next mode the group adopt a realiser viewpoint. They act as pragmatic realists and use convergent thinking to review the ideas left by the dreamers. They select the best idea and construct a plan for it. The fourth viewpoint is that of critics. They review the plan made by the realists in order to identify weaknesses, obstacles or risks. They seek to improve the plan. The method is comparable to and an alternative to de Bono s Six Thinking Hats . 1. Metaplan

Metaplan , Metaplan technique or simply card technique is a system for collecting ideas or Creativity technique when a group of people are working together. The method was initiated by Eberhard Schnelle in Hamburg , Germany . The publication of the technique is in German language Eberhard Schnelle Hrsg. Neue Wege der Kommunikation. Spielregeln, Arbeitstechniken und Anwendungsf lle der Metaplan Methode. Ver ffentlichungen der Stiftung Gesellschaft und Unternehmen, Heft 10, Peter Hanstein Verlag, K nigstein Ts. 1978 . Apart from the simple visual technique as exampled, the method covers the performance of discussion butlers, known as moderators, as well as the structure of thinking processes within the context of group work. To become a highly experienced moderator, versed in the complexity of organizational problem solving and innovation , takes many years and interaction at the most senior levels of organizational decision making. There are however many practitioners who operate at the lower levels to facilitate discussion using the simple starter tools as the example describes hereunder. All people in the group write down ideas which came into their minds, one idea on one card. In the Brainstorming process it is important that ideas are not judged. Then all cards are collected and fixed on a pin board affixed with a sheet of brown paper. Only now the ideas are processed. The cards are organized according categories and may show new results of which the single persons were not aware. Category Creativity de Pinnwandmoderation pl Metaplan ...   more details

  1. Scribing (graffiti)

Unreferenced date December 2009 Wikify date December 2009 Scribing is a style or method of graffiti in which a scribe is used to tag on glass surfaces. There are two popular types of scribes. The first is the arrowhead scribe, held between the thumb and index finger, used for quick connectible style tags on glass. The second is the pen scribe, usually used for more detailed tagging. Scribing can be loud, especially when doing connectibles on glass. Scribing is also a technique used in the corporate world to visually document concepts in a graphic format. Companies such as The WildWorks Group and Griot s Eye take conversations and convert them in real time on whiteboard walls or storyboards surrounding participants. A scribe works on large walls, using markers pens to map conversations live at events, interpreting and drawing ideas quickly, using pictures, diagrams and symbols to make ideas visible and accessible. As the brainstorming session flows, scribes translate the main ideas of the conversation into keywords and graphics. The exercise is dynamic in helping to capture concepts that are sometimes lost in a flow of words. It also helps to reinforce thoughts for people who are visual learners.
