Vitrasia was the daughter of Annia Fundania Faustina and the Roman politician Titus Pomponius Proculus Vitrasius Pollio and her brother was Titus Fundanius Vitrasius Pollio. Her paternal grandfather was Titus Vitrasius Pollio consul of 137, while her maternal grandparents were the consul Marcus Annius Libo and Fundania. Through her maternal grandfather, she was a distant relative to the ruling Nerva Antonine dynasty of the Roman Empire. Vitrasia was born and raised in Rome . Vitrasia through inheritances became a very wealthy heiress and had moved to Cales . Due to her influence, status and connections, Vitrasia became a public benefactor and a prominent citizen of Cales. Through her wealth, Vitrasia paid for the construction or repair for the Magna Dea Temple or Temple of the Great Mother in the city. It is uncertain if Vitrasia had ever married or had children. It 182 or 183, she was involved in one of numerous conspiracies against her second unstable maternal cousin the Roman Emperor Commodus who ruled 180 192. She was executed on the orders of Commodus. These minute insects are challenging to study as they deteriorate rapidly after death unless extreme care is taken e.g., preservation in ethanol , making identification of most museum specimens difficult. The larva e of the majority are primary parasitoid s on Hemiptera , though other hosts are attacked, and details of the life history can be variable e.g., some attack eggs, some attack pupae, and others are hyperparasite s . They are found throughout the world in virtually all habitats, and are extremely important as biological control agents. They are difficult to separate from other Chalcidoidea except by subtle features of the wing venation and other difficult characters, and it appears the family is paraphyletic , and therefore likely to be split up in the future e.g., the Azotinae and Calesinae may become separate families . Caecuban wine Latin language Latin Caecubum , Greek language Greek Kaikoubos came from a small territory, ager Caecubus , at Amyclae in coastal Latium . In the modern day area known as the Pontine Marshes Varro , around 70 BC, already regarded this district as a place of legendary wealth. Strabo detailed the area s reputation for wine as he described the location The Caecuban Plain borders on the Gulf of Caietas and next to the plain comes Fundi Disambiguation needed date June 2011 , situated on the Appian Way . It was a white wine which turned fire coloured as it aged. Dioscorides describes it as glykys sweet . Athenaeus describes it as overpowering and strong, maturing only after many years time Deipnosophistae , I.27a . Occurrences in Horace Odes As a testament to its popularity, Caecuban wine makes several appearances in the odes of Horace . In Ode 1.20 , Horace gives Caecuban a greater stature then Falernian as he invites his prominent friend, Maecenas to drink with him.
