  1. Australian Academy of Dramatic Art

The Australian Academy of Dramatic Art AADA is a contemporary theatre school in Sydney, Australia, established in 1983 by Ron and Elaine Birkby. Ron Birkby studied at the Actors Studio in New York under the father of method acting, the late Lee Strasburg. In the 1980s, the school was based on Elizabeth Street, Sydney, then on Holt Street, Surry Hills. During its early decades it offered Vocational Education and Training VET Certificates, Diplomas, and Advanced Diplomas in Acting. In 2006, the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art became a department of the Australian Institute of Music AIM , enabling AADA to offer a government accredited degree course as a private Higher Education Provider HEP . AADA s premiere teaching and performance space is the historic Pilgrim Theatre , located at 262 Pitt Street, Sydney. The burgeoning independent theatre scene in Sydney and other Australian capitals was now to be supported by a custom built training in contemporary theatre practice, a unique education for the Actor Creator Producer . It has been said that AADA took the baton from the University of Western Sydney s now defunct Theatre Nepean , a remarkable training program that gave the Australian performing arts sector over a decade of graduates who are all round theatre makers. 1. Dramatic convention

Unreferenced date December 2009 Dramatic conventions are the specific actions or techniques the actor, writer or director has employed to create a desired dramatic effect style. A dramatic convention is a set of wiktionary rule rules ,which both the audience and actor s are familiar with and which act as a useful way of quickly signifying the nature of the action or of a character. All forms of theatre have dramatic conventions, some of which may be unique to that particular form, such as the poses used by actors in Japanese kabuki theatre to establish a character, or the stock character of the black cloaked, moustache twirling villain in early cinema melodrama serials. It can also include an implausible facet of a performance required by the technical limitations or artistic nature of a production and which is accepted by the audience as part of suspension of disbelief . For example, a dramatic convention in Shakespeare is that a character can move downstage to deliver a soliloquy which cannot be heard by the other characters on stage nor are characters in a Musical theatre musical surprised by another character bursting into song. One more example would be how the audience accepts the passage of time during a play or how music will play during a romantic scene. Dramatic conventions may be categorized into groups, such as rehearsal, technical or theatrical. Rehearsal conventions can include hot seating, role on the wall and still images. Technical conventions can include lighting, dialogue, monologue, set, costuming and entrances exits. Theatrical conventions may include split focus, flashback flashforward, narration, soliloquy and spoken thought. 1. Dramatic monologue

    M. H. Abrams notes the following three features of the dramatic monologue as it applies to poetry Quotation A single person, who is patently not the poet, utters the speech that makes up the whole of the poem, in a specific situation at a critical moment . This person addresses and interacts with one or more other people but we know of the auditors presence, and what they say and do, only from clues in the discourse of the single speaker. The main principle controlling the poet s choice and formulation of what the lyric speaker says is to reveal to the reader, in a way that enhances its interest, the speaker s temperament and character. ref M. The band consists of the Kitzerow brothers, Jason vocals, guitar and Joe drums, percussion , plus a rotating assortment of musicians. 1. Dramatic soprano

A dramatic soprano is an operatic soprano with a powerful, rich, emotive voice that can sing over, or cut through, a full orchestra. Thicker vocal folds in dramatic voices usually but not always mean less agility than lighter voices but a sustained, fuller sound. Usually this voice has a lower tessitura than other sopranos, and a darker timbre . They are often used for heroic , often long suffering , tragic women of opera. Dramatic sopranos have a range from approximately middle C C4 to high D D6 . ref name Coffin Coffin 1960 , cited below ref Some dramatic sopranos, known as Wagnerian sopranos , have an exceptionally big voice that can assert itself over a large orchestra of more than 80 or even 100 pieces . These voices are substantial, often denser in tone, extremely powerful and, ideally, evenly balanced throughout the vocal registers. Wagnerian sopranos usually play mythic heroines. Successful Wagnerian sopranos are rare and often Wagnerian roles are performed by Italianate dramatic sopranos. ref name Coffin Dramatic soprano singers Please do not add non classical singers to this list. 1. Dramatic Interpretation

Unreferenced date September 2008 Dramatic Interpretation often shortened to Dramatic Interp, Drama or just DI is an event in National Forensic League and NFL related high school forensics competitions. DI is sometimes called Depressive Interpretation as a joke however, it accurately describes the sentiment underlying most pieces. In a typical round of DI, five to seven performers will each perform a cutting excerpt from a published play, novel, or short story. As the name suggests, the cuttings are invariably from non comedic e.g., dramatic works. Some performers select monologues, others may adopt the roles of several characters, changing their tone of voice, manner of speaking, and bodily position to indicate a change in character. After all of the competitors have performed, the judge or judges in the round will rank them from best to worst, and assign each of them a National Forensic League Points score . Contestants who score well will break out of preliminary rounds and continue to advance through octo quarter semi final rounds if they continue to score well. In college, DI cuttings must be from a play. Novels and short stories are used in prose. Citation needed date February 2007 Rules The use of props is forbidden. There is a time limit of ten minutes although a thirty second grace period is often allowed . Within the ten minutes, there must be an introduction which states the title and author of the selection. A teaser from the selection may precede the introduction See also Humorous Interpretation National Christian Forensics and Communications Association National Forensic League External links http sites.google.com site uncensoredforensics info dramatic humerous intpretation Dramatic & Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Performance Category Debating Category Public speaking Speech and debate stub class wikitable border 1 2011 NFL National Finalists Performed By 1 The Soul of a Butterfly Muhammad Ali Jamaque Newberry, Nova High School FL 2 The Soul of a Butterfly ...   more details

  1. Dramatic Lyrics

Dramatic Lyrics is a collection of English poems by Robert Browning , first published in 1842 as the second volume in a series of self published books entitled Bells and Pomegranates . It is most famous as the first appearance of Browning s poem The Pied Piper of Hamelin , but also contains several of the poet s other best known pieces, including My Last Duchess , Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister , Porphyria s Lover , and Johannes Agricola in Meditation . Contents Many of the original titles given by Browning to the poems in this collection, as with its follow up collection Dramatic Romances and Lyrics , are different from the ones he later gave them in various editions of his collected works. Since this book was originally self published in a very small edition, these poems are now always referred to by their later titles. cellpadding 5 u small caps Original titles u u small caps Later titles u Cavalier Tunes ol style list style type upper roman li Marching Along li li Give a Rouse li li My Wife Gertrude li ol Cavalier Tunes ol style list style type upper roman li Marching Along li li Give a Rouse li li Boot and Saddle li ol Italy and France ol style list style type upper roman li Italy li li France li ol br My Last Duchess Count Gismond Camp and Cloister ol style list style type upper roman li Camp French li li Cloister Spanish li ol br Incident of the French Camp Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister In a Gondola Artemis Prologizes Waring In a Gondola Artemis Prologizes Waring poem Waring Queen Worship ol style list style type upper roman li Rudel and the Lady of Tripoli li li Cristina li ol br Rudel to the Lady of Tripoli Cristina poem Cristina Madhouse Cells ol style list ... words authors B BrowningRobert verse dramaticromances Complete combined text of Dramatic Lyrics and Dramatic Romances And Lyrics poetry collection stub Robert Browning Category 1842 poems Category English poetry collections Category Poetry by Robert Browning Dramatic Lyrics fr Dramatic ...   more details
