.ch (newspaper)

.ch (.ch; spoken: Punkt CH) was a free, ad-financed, tabloid format, daily German language newspaper in Switzerland, launched on 19 September 2007 and appearing until 4 May 2009. Its name was derived from the Internet country code top-level domain .ch.

With a claimed initial print run of 435,000, .ch was one of the largest daily newspaper in Switzerland, according to 2006 statistics.[1] It was distributed directly to houses in St. Gallen, Z rich, Basel, Bern and Luzern. .ch competed mainly with other free Swiss newspapers such as 20 Minuten, heute and the News.

The paper ceased publication in May 2009 due to its poor economic performance. All 69 employees were laid off.[2]
