The 1933 Baffin Bay earthquake was a 7.3 magnitude earthquake that struck Greenland and Nunavut, and Canada at 6:21 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 20, 1933.[1] The main shock epicenter was located in Baffin Bay on the east coast of Baffin Island. The shaking associated with this earthquake was only felt at the small town of Upernavik, Greenland.[1] The 1933 Baffin Bay earthquake is the largest recorded earthquake to strike the passive margin of North America and is the largest known earthquake north of the Arctic Circle.[1] No damage was reported during this earthquake because of its offshore location and the small population of the nearby onshore communities.[1] See also References External links fa: ( )
