The 1949 Division I Baseball Tournament was the third NCAA sanctioned baseball tournament that determined a national champion. Texas would go on to win the championship, their first of 6 championships. Tournament The tournament was divided into four regional brackets, Region A, Region B, Region C and Region D, with each region consisting of two teams playing a best-of-three game series. This was the first year of this format. Region A: defeated two games to none. Region B: defeated two games to none. Region C: defeated two games to none. Region D: defeated two games to one. The winner of each Region moved on to the 1949 College World Series, played in Wichita, KS.
