- Maracaibo Lake Bridge in Venezuela, designed by Riccardo Morandi is opened.
- The TWA Terminal at JFK Airport in New York, designed by Eero Saarinen is opened.
- Policromatic condominium block in Zagreb by Ivo Vitic is completed.
- The Tour CIBC in Montreal, Canada, is completed.
- The Place Ville-Marie in Montreal, Canada, is completed.
- The Sentech Tower in Johannesburg, South Africa, is completed.
- The KPN-Zendmast Waalhaven in Rotterdam, Netherlands, is completed.
- Both Marina City towers in Chicago, United States, are completed; however, they are not fully furnished until 1964.
- The Tryvannst rnet in Oslo, Norway, is completed.
- The Cadet Chapel at the United States Air Force Academy, designed by Walter Netsch, is completed.
- Roman Catholic Church of Christ the King, Plymouth, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, Son & Partner, is completed, the last building worked on by Scott before his death.
- Construction of Dalgety Bay, a small New town in Fife, Scotland, begins.
