Abd al Kuri (Arabic: ) is a rocky island about 65 miles (105 km) southwest of Socotra in the Indian Ocean.[1] It is part of the Socotra Archipelago[1] and belongs to the Hadhramaut Governorate of Yemen[2], although it is geographically closer to the Horn of Africa.[1] It consists of granite and diorite covered by limestone.[3] Much of Abd al Kuri is semi-desert with little vegetation.[1] Two ranges of hills separated near the centre occupy the entire length of the island.[4] The northern coast consists mostly of a sandy beach with a few rocky points, while the southern coast consists of steep cliffs.[4][5] Its highest point, Mount li , reaches an altitude of over 700 meters. Most of its inhabitants subsist on fishing.[1] Abd al Kuri has a number of endemic plant species[1] and an endemic bird, the Abd al-Kuri Sparrow.[6][7] References Footnotes Bibliography ar: de:Abd al-Kuri et: Abd al-K r es:Abd al Kuri eo:Abd al Kuri fr:Abd al Kuri id:'Abdul Kuri nl:Abd Al Kuri ja: pl:Abd al-Kuri pt:Abd al Kuri ru: - - sk:Abd al-K r
