Agnostus

Agnostus is a genus of trilobites that lived approximately 540 to 438 million years ago.[1] The agnostids were small (some measuring only 6 millimeters), with two thoracic segments and a large tail.

Agnostus were blind trilobites, with no fossils of the species found with eyes. They were likely benthic, living deep in the ocean where eyes would be useless.

Agnostus are believed to have been filter feeders or grazers on algae.

Species

Species include:

  • Agnostus pisiformis, Upper Cambrian, Sweden[2]
