Arsen Bashirovich Kanokov (Kabardian: , Qanoque Arsen; ; born February 22, 1957) is the president of the Kabardino-Balkaria republic in Russia. Biography Kanokov was born in Shitkhala, a village in Kabardino-Balkaria. He became a successful businessman in Moscow and a doctor of Economics. In December 2003 Kanokov became a member of the State Duma of Russia, elected on the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia list. Later he became a member of a pro-Putin United Russia party. This organization works toward unifying young people in Kabardino-Balkaria.
