Your full body weight will be descending onto a spot the exact size of your heel repeatedly every other second so warm up and stretch first, make sure that your legs, bones, joints can handle it before you try this. 2. It's more about a continuous bouncing movement than a balancing act, balance comes only when the heel/kick technique? is mastered and done too fast to think about balance (balance will happen naturally with speed and correct technique). 3. I'm not Russian, nor am I trained in this dance professionally (if indeed such a qualification exists). I was drunk at Leeds Festival 2006 and decided to try to "do the Russian dance" and somehow just did it immediately while drunk as I wasn't doubting my ability or balance. So you could say I'm a natural born Russian dancer I suppose, I've never practiced this in my life it literally just happened that I could do it. For what it's worth for 4 years this video was also the ONLY Russian dance tutorial video on YouTube which amazes me. I've recently worked out the higher level Russian dance using the calf muscle in place of the heel. If you get really good like the Russian soldiers videos online, it's all in the calf and thigh it seems, holding yourself higher than with our heel method.
